Hey all thought I would share my experience with my update to 4.12-2a12 as it may help some else down the road.
So my reason to do it was because the app on my I-touch said I would need to update my firmware to get use of some of the new functions.
I am running windows 7 with Avast antivirus/firewall . My PC connects to the apex though my router and then a switch.
I started the flash utility and it seemed to work but when I went to do the web page it locked up. Even after rebooting and leaving it unplugged for 4hrs and trying different variations of stating the utility and unplugging the apex
It still stayed in the boot loader. So I contacted Neptune systems told them my situation and expressed my frustration:headwallblue:. I went to bed with the apex unplugged and when I got up I had an email.
Paul emailed back 3hrs later (11pm his time:thumbsup

with these instructions and I was up and running in about 10min:fun4:. So the apex might be a little bugging sometimes but the guys at Neptune Systems make the difference:thumbsup:.
1. Power your Apex off (had been now for about 8hrs as I had gone to bed)
2. Restart your computer in Windows safe mode with networking
3. Turn off any virus or firewall software (When booted in safe mode Avast did not load for me)
4. Open flash utility
5. In the Network address put something similar to your default gateway (router) IP address
1. For example, if you default gateway the Apex is plugged into is 192.168.1.1 then make the network address 192.168.1.88
6. Click update firmware
7. After failed attempt 1 plug your Apex in
1. Apex and computer should make a handshake at this time, if not try to power cycle your base unit again
8. Update the web pages after the firmware update.
PS a step not mentioned here is that Paul also suggested to have the apex plugged into the same router as my apex. My apex was plugged into a switch so i moved some wires around so that they could be plugged into the same router.
