Apex Interface Adapter Cable

The Apex Interface Adapter Cable used to connect the adapter to the apex brain, is it the same as a telephone connection cable or is it a special type of cable?

The RD3 50w, 60w, 80w and 100w models use an adapter interface kit. That kit includes a little 0-10v interface box that converts the 0-10v signal from the Apex or similar controller to the signal required by the RD3. It also includes a special cable to connect from the RD3 controller to the interface and another cable to connect from the interface box to the Apex RJ45 connection. The cable between the adapter and the Apex is an RJ11 (I think) to RJ45

This is the link to the complete interface kit for the Apex.

This is the link for the cable that goes between the Interface adapter and the Apex. Like I said, I believe its RJ11 on one end and RJ45 on the other. We don’t publish a wiring diagram for that so you’d be best buying a cable if you are missing it.

If you have the RD3 150 or RD3 230, them you just need the cable with the RD3 DIN connection on one end and the Apex RJ45 connection on the other.

It's for the DC200 skimmer. I misplaced it during the breakdown of the tank. Ordered one.
Thanks for the reply.

Trying to get a replacement 10V cord for the Apex interface adapter for a DC200 skimmer. This is the correct Cord:IMG_1483 by john briscoe, on Flickr
This the cord BRS keeps sending:IMG_1484 by john briscoe, on Flickr
This is the difference between the two, the connection to the adapter is different:IMG_1480 by john briscoe, on Flickr
The smallest connection is the correct needed. Is this cord still produced? I only see the cord for the 150/230W pumps listed on the RE site.

The pictures above do not help me. They might be sending you the GHL version of the cord which should match the interface adapter side but not the Apex side. But the larger connection in your picture does look like an RJ45 which would be the correct connection for the Apex and the other end would connect to the interface adapter. Are you sure you are trying to plug that thing in to the correct side of the interface adapter?? That RJ45 end which is the bigger plug connection in your picture goes into the Apex Variable Speed port.

As I said in my previous reply, if you are looking for the cord that goes between the interface adapter and the Apex, then this is the cord you need and YES, it is still produced.
Just select Apex from the option field.

If you need the cord that goes between the RD3 controller and the interface adapter, then I would need to check stock to see if we have those on hand.

I need the 10v cord that goes from the skimmer control to the apex adapter. If you look closely at the photos you can see numbers on the cords. The top picture shows the #42-10004 which is the one I need. The bottom picture shows #42-10036 which I believe is to connect the 150/230W directly to the apex brain.

Those numbers don't really mean anything other than the vendor that makes the shielded wire itself and the wire can change from one lot to the next. The cable that goes with the RD3 230 and RD3 150's has a 4 pin Din connector on one end and the RJ45 (network cable like plug) on the other end where it connects to the Apex.

The interface adapter cable has an RJ45 on one end a phone like connector on the other end. The GHL version of the interface adapter cable has a phone like connection on one end and a smaller phone like connector on the other.

If you look at the pictures in this link, you can clearly see the connectors for the 150/230w pumps. 4 pin Din on one end (RD3 controller side) and RJ45 on the other (Apex side).

If your cable has an RJ45 network connector on one end and a smaller phone jack connector on the other, then you should have the correct cable. If your cable has a phone jack on one end and a smaller connection on the other, then you likely have the GHL Profiliux version of the cable. Or you might have the RD3 controller/din side cable plugged into the wrong end of the interface adapter box.

This is the cable I'm receiving.....the 4 pin Din w/the RJ45 connection.

Hello Seif! i was hoping you could send me a picture of the inside of the controller specifically the lower left hand corner where the 3 different color small wires plug into. Unplugged mine to slide cable through wall and the picture i took to make sure i plugged them back correctly didn't save. Its the red dragon speedy 3, any help would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if u have any questions if your not sure what im asking. I was reffered to you, they said u would be able to help. Thanks again!

The din cable with the RJ45 is part number 606/cable so you are definitely getting the wrong cable as that cable is for the 150/230w. The one I posted in the link above is the correct cable. I am not aware of BRS even has those cables in stock. You need 604/Cable with the Apex connection option and I don’t see that on the BRS site.

I assume you are Goat_88 on R2R? If so, I responded to your email. Note that we don't advocate taking that controller apart and it voids the warranty. Too many customers have killed their pumps doing so. Either due to connecting the wires incorrectly or damaging the ribbon cable that connects between the main board and the buttons/LCD on the front panel. That cable is fragile as is the connectors it attaches to. If the cable becomes dislodged at all, it will fry the controller.

For some reason i keep receiving the 606 cable..............even from Royal Exclusiv.
