Would these be harmful to my reef? I believe the butterfly passed along something bad to my fish in my reef. Looks like fin and tail rot, but on my tang it looks like it's eating away at his body too. Is it safe or should I dump everyone in qt?

Ok. Unfortunately my tang fell victim to my magnifica between 4 am and 8:30 am. It was alive at 4 for sure, but then I turned the lights off. It didn't eat that day and the fins were deteriorating fast. Looked normal in the morning for the most part and by the evening his tail and lower half were missing as well as the pectoral fins. Some of my anthias have a little bit missing off their tail fins. Gonna be hard trying to catch them. Do you think it'll heal on it's own or should I grab em.

Hmm, anthias are a tough call since they stress so easily, but if they're deteriorating rapidly, I'd get them out. Have you checked tank params? That's either a very aggressive disease, or there is something wrong with the system that is suppressing the immune system of the fish.

Medication!!!!

Medication!!!!

Here's my cure all for everything.....4-5 cloves fresh crushed garlic in press, 2 oz PE Mysis, 2 oz Rods Food, 5-10ml of Zoo (whatever vitamins you use), 4 scoops Metronidazole, 2 scoops Metro+.... I agree with Smooth that you need to check all tank levels, and if they all have it I'd treat the whole tank. I wouldn't worry about the qt because your going to stress them out even more chasing them around the tank. That's just my suggestion. Good Luck....

The fins on the anthias appear to be healing. Nobody else has it. I'll see how everyone looks tomorrow before I decide to tear apart the structure. I haven't tested in a little bit, however I just recently moved everything over so I could make room for their eventual home. I had to take everything out and put it back in 10 ft away. It may have induced more stressed, however I believe the tang was sick before the move due to the butterfly.
