Apolemichthys kingi from Madagascar

A local store here will get a shipment from Madagascar.
Among Gem Tangs they will also get Apolemichthys kingi (to my understanding at least one). They told me the size will be in the 5 to 6 inch range.

These were definitely collected around Madagascar and are not from South Africa!

If I had the space I would have asked for a pair of Amphiprion latifasciatus, but... :(

thankfully, lots are coming out from there and the price has come down a lot, a friend is selling his 4 inch.er. let me know if interested..

Since Madagascar shipments come in over the Atlantic route I would expect to see more of these arriving in New York in the future.

they are here, have been coming in since last spring, large numbers being found...it is great to see

How much do they cost these days?

I'm still waiting for that little yellow fish from Cuba finally coming to the US...

Dejongi??!! The Kingi have been sold between 5-8K depending on who you talk to. None are small or even on the smallish size though

Dejongi are here too...I know somebody with a bunch and they are trying to breed them...

Great to see so many Kingi! Mine are doing really well. Acquired another 1 a bit smaller.

I have been in touch with the actual collectors of my one and found it interesting that they have had success in spawning these in captivity. However, the difficulties have come around raising the larvae as logistically, it hasn't been easy acquiring the best food source (3-5 day transport time). However, there seems to be some progress around this!

There has been some progress with other CB fish but definitely not my place to share. I will inquire to see if he would be interested in joining the forum. Some of the work filtering through is magnificent so really hoping to see what the future holds.
