Apolemichthys kingi from Madagascar

I remember reading on here about a guy in South Africa collecting a 3/4 baby in a rock pool. We get then and they are 10k. It really is ridiculous.

Great to see so many Kingi! Mine are doing really well. Acquired another 1 a bit smaller.

I have been in touch with the actual collectors of my one and found it interesting that they have had success in spawning these in captivity. However, the difficulties have come around raising the larvae as logistically, it hasn't been easy acquiring the best food source (3-5 day transport time). However, there seems to be some progress around this!

Que Yoda Karen Brittain....

A number of dejongi have arrived in Singapore last week too

So far 3 kingi have arrived over 2 shipments this year that I know of. Retail pricing is similar to Taiwan's.

I just went by and looked at this fish, such a beauty! I haven't seen one in person before so this was a real treat.

I took a video of it - got to upload it when I get home.
It's a male.

I would say 5 to 6 inches. I think they just got him in on Saturday. The 3 new regals they got in looked equally stressed.

Did they still have the red haddoni?

BTW, I would have a very hard time spending 9k on a single fish just because it's rare.
There are prettier angels in the 100 dollar range...
