after reading all 68 pages i have a few question... first off WOW, very impressive tank and thank you for sharing your journey with all of us.
1: what is your light schedule?
Right now, the Profilux is programmed to turn on a single PAR38 spot lamp for 6 hours starting at 6pm daily.
2: How do you like the new bio balls?
I like the fact that they are a different shape than the Warner Pellets. With the two different types in the reactor I haven't noticed them sticking at all. Nitrates still remain low and phosphate require the use of GFO to keep them at bay.
3: when s the upgrade coming?
I wanted to sell my co-op this year (fall) but my wife wants us to push the sale of it to 2012, all being based around a family obligations.
Im in the process of upgrading my display from a year old 65gal w/20 gal sump to a 120 (48x24x24) sps disply with a 75 gal NPS under it hooked to my fish room that has 2 75gal sumps, a 40 breeder frag tank, and a 55 gal QT tank.
Is there anything you would change or do differently right off the bat?
What I would change or do differently? First would have a larger sump area. In my current housing set up there is no way for me to create the size sump that I would like to put in, plus would like to have better access to it. Biggest obsticle dealing with is space. Can be a real PITA when pulling skimmer, pumps, etc. out for cleaning. In addition to that would like a seperate area for preparing salt water. Dont have the luxury to having a dedicated mixing area but a very understanding spouse. Especially when i am doing water changes 2x a week and sometimes forget to wash all those bristle worms down her beautiful stainless sink (thanks hun
). The only other thing would be, which actually also has to do with space, is setting up a better dedicated viewing area for the tank. This is one of the requirements once I move. Wife gets her dream kitchen and pool....I get my fish room and VRod. Since my daughter is now in the picture there will be some compromise going on both sides.
As this will be my first NPS tank im still in the info gathering mode.
I thank you for all your great input and everyone else for there input as well.
Thanks
Troy
