Don,
Only sand was added to the right rear of the tank for the green cerianthus. The rest of the tank remains bare except for the occasional drifting sand.

I have a feeling it is going to creep back in. These things are additcting! You need the orange one on DD now. Come on you know you need it balance the greens. LOL How about a shot of both together?

I can see how it is easy to get hooked on them; minimal care needed and dramatic display of color. Honestly not sure I would add more unless I could score up an additional green one at a decent price. There was a nice white & purple one at Greenwich Aquaria that caught my eye....though.
For being able to capture them both in the same picture, close to impossible with how they are positioned in the tank. The Halcurias sp. is in the front of the tank with no substrate and the cerianthus is in the right back corner of the tank behind the main rock structure. Putting substrate to the front of the tank tends to be difficult with the MP40 & MP10 at full blast.

There have been a few physical changes to the tank....it is now a full blown sps tank...just kidding
The tank has had about 50% or more of the rockwork removed to create more white space in the tank. Creating more of a minimalist aquascape then it already was. This also vastly improved the flow in the aquarium and how food is delivered to the tank inhabitants.
To be completely honest, the tank took a beating for a period of time when my daughter was born...not going to deny it and it was a learning experience. It helped identify the weakest points in the system and what modifications had to be done with my daily/weekly husbandry of this type of aquarium to work with my current lifestyle. As well as add to a few personal theories of how the system should be designed around particular corals. As mentioned before in a different thread, I believe when setting up a non-photosynthetic specific system you either go with all Azoox LPS or just everything else. As feeding is extremely important in these type of systems; you have to look at how the food is going to get to all the corals, the size of the food that is getting to them, and in the end what isn't being taken in, how is it going to get out of the system. The whole picture is more complex for longevity of the system.

I know I am not Mike, and please excuse me for jumping in. I just got my first Ctenocella pectinata today from my LFS. I had been eyeing it for about a month, and it had been there a month before I noticed it (or cared?) according to the owner. They had it under a 6 bulb Tek t5ho fixture for all of that time, and there werent any ill-effects that I have noticed. They also have another one in their show tank under "sps worthy" LEDs. So, with those two examples, I would say that they are able to tolerate light.
Mike, I would like to know any other information you have on them, as I am still not sure what to feed it. I plan to just try a little bit of everything until I see some positive reactions

Same thing with mine. Its huge haha! Looked normal-sized in the store. I saw a tiny bit of a feeding reaction with Oyster Feast, not what I was expecting though. I didnt see any response with cyclopeeze either
