AquaForest Program

Correct on the AF forum here there was a few threads months back and storage is not recommended with any salt for that matter. They had some science behind it, but as you said many have had no issues doing so. GL

Sorry guys,
I don't suppose it is all snake oil, I am finding that the system is quite gentle, my corals and fish have responded well. I link my only concern of having green cyano to not refrigerating the bacteria after opening and using for 3 months only to find out it went funk.(my fault) Otherwise, I am fully AF at this point, running complete system. I do not find the system expensive, and you certainly do not have to use all their products. There are many ways to keep reef tanks, this is merely a system, like zeovit, designed for advanced coral health. Here is a recent FTS :)

nice looking tank Perry...while things didn't work out for me with the salt based on my needs I will say that I am very happy with Fish V and the two part epoxy they sell. The colors on my fish look like they have been swimming in radioactive waters lol! I tried the epoxy and works great. Great set time but not too fast and really easy to work with....just make sure your hands are dry when you are combining the two parts.

LOL....
Thanks, I will have to give this a try, I will be doing a re-start next year, so I look to do dry rock all glued together. I agree the fish V product is good stuff, my bimaculatus anthias glow, I attribute to LRS and Fish V :)
Cheers!

I'm considering starting this on my system. I have a 29g tank and have been doing very minimal things to as far as dosing. While my corals seem content I don't believe they're happy. I get what I consider mediocre PE. Colors aren't as vibrant as they could be. Here are my stats:

Weekly water changes with RSCP.
1.5 ml of Red Sea Part A and B
.5 ml of NoPox
Reef Chilli/Roids twice a week for feeding
Single reactor with Carbon and GFO.

P04 : < 0.03
Nitrate: 5 ppm (working on lowering this down to 2.5ppm)
Alk: 10.2
Calcium: 450
Mg:1450

I was thinking of switching to the Probiotic Salt along with Component 1+2+3+. Along with ME Amino's for additional supplementation and live phyto.

I'm at a loss whether I should go with AF BVE in addition to the above. I also have some corals that I don't wish to shock with the change of the salt so I was going to continue my WC schedule of 4g weekly. Or maybe a 4g water change every 4 days. I just don't want to shock my SPS pieces as the alk lowers itself from what it is now to what the new salt mixes at.

Any recommendations?

Hello,
I have been using NOPOX in my 6 months old Red Sea Reefer 170 from the beginning. Nitrates always between 2-5 and phosphates between 0.03-0.07.
Three weeks ago I began using AF Pro Bio S and -Np Pro and my Nitrates climbed to 8-9.
Should I continue using NOPOX for a while longer or just wait to see if they climb down in the near future?
I also put 1 liter of Siporax in my sump, but only one week ago.
Thank you in advance

Nopox is source of carbon for bacteria, so if you stop dosing it no3 and po4 should go rather up then down IMO

Sorry, I think i didn't explain myself correctly.
When I started using AF 3 weeks ago, I stopped dosing NOPOX. My question is if it would be a good idea to begin dosing NOPOX again while using Pro Bio S and -Np Pro at the same time.

If you already stopped using nopox I would rather slighly increase np pro and closely monitor no3 po4 levels

This. AF recommends their media for the growth of the bacteria. I am still running a pellet reactor which contradicts that statement, but when I did dose NP Pro, I had a huge slime problem.

I don't have experience with np pro. I'm still using nopox with their bacteria.I think is better to stick to one carbon source then switch back until system stabilize.

Any of you using AF Garlic Oil? I dosed one drop in my freezing food and the fishes didn't seem to like it much, specially my copperband (didn't touch any of it, when usually is the first to eat)
Maybe is better to drop it directly into the tank, instead of into the food?

Throwing in the towel. Can't get my algae to stop blooming. Operator error I'm sure, but loosing a couple acro colonies took the wind out my of sails and I literally stopped testing and caring for the tanks. Sg was 1.029 which is not like me. Bye AF, it was fun.... not
