AquaGlobe Powerheads Improved...?

Hey Jason,

I see that you are carrying the AquaGlobe Microjet powerheads once again after sending them a back a few years ago due to quality problems, correct...?

Have they improved them as to make truly reliable?

Their small size and BIG flow make them almost irresitable to us larger nano (29g) owners....?! But I hate unreliable powerheads!

Thanks for the time and attention,

Todd

Hi Todd,

Yes, they finally got them right i think. I was leary on carrying them again so i told them to send me a sample and put it my office tank. Ran 3 months with no problem and i didn't clean it once a month like they recommended too, wanted to see it perform under worse conditions. I let the sponge get covered and it just kept pumping. It's been probably 6-8 months now and mine is still running strong, never cleaned still.

Jason,

Do You have any idea how these would work/hold up with a waver maker device like Red Sea's...? I know these wave maker devices kill MicroJets in a matter of weeks...?

Thanks,

Todd

Hi Todd,

I tried one on the Natural Wave strip and it lasted about a day. The little impeller just couldn't handle it. Otherwise I like the pumps, they have such a small footprint which is ideal in any tank especially nanos. I'd be curious to know if the pumps would survive on a wavemaker that used a soft start.

Thanks, Cory, that's what I figured... A sure fire recipe for disaster...! I have been dreaming as of late about how to get good and reliable movement into a small 29g SPS (Mont to Acro) tank without plumbing in a closed loop...

I don't think it's gunna happen... Time, I think, to shop for colored bulkheads and a good external pump...!

If you are going external, I highly recommend the PanWorld/BlueLine pumps. They have quite a selection, are very quiet, and very reliable. If you need black, black, or black bulkheads we can help you there also.

powersweaps remodeled there powerhead I here they work really well, that will give you diffrent movement if you point a couple at each other.

Hi,

I put the new PowerSweep in my home tank. It worked well for about a month and quit, just the rotation. If you take it apart and clean it, it works again, but i'm too lazy to work on it.

oh, wow I have a friend who has the newer versions and he has them for months. maybe its a case by case basis. I thought they redesigned them to fix them vs just a new fancy box, hehe.

Do the new PowerSweeps still take enough in-tank real estate to choke a horse? I tried this once and could not believe how huge they were...

Hi,

So far, zero complaints, been selling them for a few months now. So they seem very reliable now.

thanks

Same size outlet as the MJ? Curiuos to see if the velocity of the water exiting the pump is the same.

Did u guys heard about the Switching Curent Wave Director"squid",this better powerheads. After years of research and testing, 3iQ Ventures has unveiled an industry changing wave making product for aquariums, ponds and gardens, called SCWD (Switching Current Water Director). SCWD ("squid") promises to add life giving alternating currents to saltwater and freshwater aquariums alike, as well as ponds; and decorative alternating sprays to garden statuary. SCWD is a revolutionary mechanical wave maker, designed and manufactured in the United States by 31Q, to the highest standards of quality and reliability. SCWD is clearly the most efficient wave maker available. http://www.3iqventures.com
