Had 9 Very Nice Acropora Frags - Were stored overnight in a tank without rock or sand but with light and proper flow.

These Frags were 100% healthy, I would have taken them to an LFS the same day, but by the time I could take them all to the LFS it was past closing time.

So I sent them to the LFS with my husband the next morning. Aqualife in Rocklin. He Called ahead and asked if he could bring them down - they said fine.

He got there to drop them off, for simply store credit. Aqualife said "oops sorry cant take them a manager is not here"......... My husband could not store them at work so he asked about leaving them in their care until a manager was there to make an offer. Store Employee said OK and My Husband left a number we could be contacted at. (my number)

30 Minutes later they contacted me on my phone and told me the acropora were all dead, and they would not give a store credit of any amount.

I wasnt with my husband at drop off and didnt know what arrangements had been made or when, so I got upset and told them that it was fine, that I was so sorry and blubbering like a stupid baby on the phone about these wild collected creatures being dead.

My Husband gets home... and we talk about it, I then Find Out aqualife only had these corals in their possession for about 30 to 40 minutes before decideing that they were dead and telling me I wouldnt get a penny.

Now I am torn up about wondering about my beautiful corals being dead or aqualife ripping me off. THEY DIDNT EVEN GIVE THE CORALS TIME TO ACCLIMATE BEFORE TELLING ME THEY WERE DEAD! Sorry but as nice as you all say this LFS is, they could have given the corals a few hours at least to open up before telling me the corals were dead..... the same corals that were alive and open and brightly colored in my tank less than 12 hours before. The same corals that were alive when they were bagged and sent from my home that very morning 2 hours before aqualife saw them.

Not much to do now, I Really Hope I was ripped off. I truly hope this store lied to me and that my corals are still alive. I just find it a little hard to believe that Corals I knew to be healthy 2 hours before drop off were dead after 30 minutes in aqualife's hands.

I just wish that aqualife would have given the corals a few hours or maybe 24 hours to get comfortable and open up before labeling them dead. And so that we all understand eachother I am more sad and confused then anything... I truly hope that I got ripped off and that these wild collected colonies are still alive.

I don't think they can die that fast. That's really suck that a LFS would do that just for some frags.

well.... just found out that "matt" was the one that spoke to my husband and told him that no management was there and they couldnt make an offer blah blah blah....

Matt Was also the guy that called me 30 to 40 minutes later and told me the corals were dead.

I know my times are accurate because I use only cell phone that keep call times in history.

I grow more suspcious...... Am I naive or paranoid?

they probally sold it within that 30 or 40 minutes and didn't want to give you store credit for it

You should have told them that you wanted the frags back dead or alive. And if they could't give em back then they owe you credit.

I'd like to believe that my response would have been " OK, I'll be by at (time) to pick them up.

My husband knows absolute Zero about the hobby and the critters... but he just enjoys what I do.... I'm sure his "this is Apro ... I mean Afro... uhhh apro...uh ... pora" intro gave them an indicter of that.

Just because we didnt make the best move doesnt mean they shouldnt.

Plus my husband doesnt get off work till the place is already closed... but I think I may call and use your idea - I'd like the frags back dead or alive.

this is very unususal of matt, I have known him for awhile and he has always been a very nice person (to me at least). I wonder why he would try and rip you off like that, he's not a noob either so he wouldn't just mistake the coral for being dead in that time frame.

I hope you are right really...

I mean I hate to think they are dead... But I hate to think I was lied to as well.

Anyone who knows anything about this hobby knows you give frags at least a few hours to acclimate before you call em dead... and even then sometimes several days.

There was No tissue loss this morning. No Polyp extension either but the lights were off... they may have been stressed out with a messy tank and no rock, but they deserved a chance to recoop.

Like I said earlier... I I am torn between wondering wheather I was lied to or wheather I killed these spectacular animals..... Either way I am Angry. But am I angry with myself or the Store?

Well you saw my post about them refusing to honor the club membership.
I used to love this place but I fear, this store is starting to turn towards the dark side.

I was told there was a shake up in the management recently too.

decent chance they're currently in that guy's tank, but I think it's worth going and speaking with someone of importance there.

Unfortunately I wont be able to get down there in person tomorrow... although I do plan to call and try to communiacate my concerns about accilamtion time vs. thereturn call telling me they are dead. If they still have the frags in their possession I will have my husband pick them up.

i treat customers very well, and expect that from others.

Chatting it up with you and your fellow coworkers was the friendliest experience I've ever had at Capitol:)

salt and some other select dry goods are cheaper other places but i still get most of my livestock from capitol.
