OkayInstalling baffles is something I don't want to take on now for many reasons, and besides aesthetics don't understand why this would be a big improvement. Micro bubbles is the least of my current problem, which is the one thing I would think installing baffles instead of using the plastic box would help. I only installed the skimmer in the box to get the skimmer in deeper water, as I only had it in 7-1/2" (even though Aquamaxx specs it out between 6 and 10 inches) when it sat on the bottom of my sump.
After a week and a half of not producing any skimate and only able to crud up the inside body of the skimmer and collection cup, I came home today to find the skimmer over-flowing, with basically clear water. This is the problem I've had from the beginning. I'm both jealous and frustrated in that nobody else seems to have the same issue and have not been able to fix it.
The skimmer does not produce a fine foam like I seein the pictures and videos that have been posted here of other reefers' skimmers. I've yet to se a fine foam, and the bubbles seen pretty large (1") that burst as they rise out of the skimmer.
One difference I note on the videos of other skimmers is that the foam seems to be rising straight up in the skimmer body. If you look at the video I posted, there is a lot of turbulence or roiling in the skimmer body right up to the neck of the collection cup. Is this normal? What causes this? Why isn't it producing the fine bubbles I see in the video of other skimmers?
Hmm? Good question!!Does anyone know the neck diameter/size of the CO-2?
Placed a buy order and eta is 1 month. What kind of peoples are they? Don't they know we need our skimmer fix??
Wow. Interesting! !!
It will push more water. Curious to see the air numbers on it. Do you have, or know of any one who has am RMB meter? My guess is that version will push more water and pull more air than mine. It should allow you to run it shallower than the aquamaxx version.

heck ya that is! Hope you enjoy the skimmer. Post some pics when you can.I bought this earlier in the week and couldn't find the code. I emailed them after I paid with the code and they refunded the 30 bucks to my Paypal account. That's customer service.
Mine has no rubber feet either but the pump is so smooth it doesn't make any extra resonance vibration. It's one of the quietest skimmers I've owned.I don't have an air meter but will experiment with the water depth. The potential noise issue may be a problem as there are no rubber feet on the skimmer legs.
I will get it in the sump today.
Okay
You have a 20 gal long sump that is 12 inches high, correct?
Before you used the container, how high did the sump rise from 7.5 inches when the return pump was shut off?
I ask because if you are only looking at about a 1.5 inch rise after the pump is shut off then you should be able to run yours higher than 7.5 without the tub for the skimmer. I suggested baffles because a 2 baffle set up with an over/under can not only help with micros but will keep your skimmer section constantly at 9 inches. First baffle after the skimmer would be 9 inches high from the bottom and the second spaced an inch apart and an inch off the bottom. I realize now that you don't want to tackle it at this time but keep it in mind.
Couple more questions. Since you have it in the tub, is the water exiting the skimmer close to the wall of the tub? If it is then adjust it so the exiting water is free from any obstruction. Also, since you do not have an Ato, how often do you top off for evaporation? If you do it once a day then that could contribute to your overflow issue. If you top off once daily then your specific gravity climbs during the day and the higher the sg, the more air the skimmer will pull.
Sorry for all the questions and suggestions! Just trying to help!
video of skimmer (don't know how to post a youtube video directly in post!)

How open is your standpipe there? the water line is quite high.
Notice the pump on mine below, it is the 220-240v version, 32 watts draw.
Maybe that is the reason for the different NW???![]()
Sorry if I sound frustrated, but my Bruins also just lost game 7, so I'm not in a happy mood! I apologize if seem terse, and truly appreciate everybody's help and input.
How do I tell how open my standpipe is? I've just adjusted it to set the level height.
turn it so that the water line/foam line inside the skimmer is lower. The break should be just below the white collar. My skimmer has turbulence in the body, but after the collar, the bubbles are fine and rise straight up. Also, is there water in your silencer? The last picture you posted kind of makes it look like it.
How old is your tank?
Here's a quick video of my CO-1. A little premature, but maybe it can help Andy
