Aquaph8's 225 Build

All the fish in the DT are doing well, the QT are being a bit picky now that I started medicating. Great to hear all your fish are doing well, and you are definitely building quite an impressive collection there. I like the lavender tang, highly underrated tang. And your wrasse collection is just awesome!

Thanks Ed. The Mitatus decided green slimmer was on the menu today. I hope he doesn't get any worse, the slimmer can take it but I'm not sure about some of my smaller corals.

Frustrating couple days. I had some credit from Blue zoo that I needed to use. Normally I would only buy one fish at a time unless they were the same species but Blue zoo has a dumb policy stating that you have to use all of your credit at the same time. So I got two multibar angels (the reason for the whole order), a bi-color foxface and a couple assorted flasher wrasses to round out the order. I chose next Saturday as my shipment date which is the 27th. Monday night I go to check my email and I have tracking updates 10 days early and I'm not gonna be home. I got my sister to pick up the box and take it inside so at least it wouldn't be outside. Finally to my amazement I get home and everything is still alive and well. Today I get home and all of them are scratching themselves on everything. I'm so tired of dealing with sick fish his year. Multi bars are hard enough fish to keep without having to medicate them. Looks like Im going hypo this round. :headwally:

Sorry to hear about the butterfly taking a liking to SPS polyps. Hope he doesn't decide that all SPS are food.

Also sorry to hear about the new fish not doing well. Wish you the best of luck with the hypo treatment. I feel your pain on dealing with fish that don't seem to do well, especially in QT.

Sorry Brett. That completely sucks!

Ordering online is so "hit or miss" these days.

Why can't we have an LFS that is able to get in what we want, reasonably priced... quarantines and treats everything before they hit our tanks.

Sorry about the sick fish Brett, danfeig is right about hit or miss. I know this doesn't apply but when I deal with delicate fish I actually set up 2 different qt tanks if I'm ordering from 2 different suppliers (or locations with liveaquaria Wisconsin/LA) just because I've been burned by mixing the two and contaminating healthy fish with disease.

Hopefully your Mitatus is just sampling and cools down once he gets use to your feeding schedule. I use to have had angels that would immediately sample any new coral would put into my tank, and they usually cooled down after a little bit of time. I don't know your feeding schedule, but if he eats dry goods it might be worth looking into an auto-feeder to feed more often throughout the day. I'm not sure how that will impact your SPS water chemistry though. I wish you luck, and keep us updated.

Thanks, he's been pretty good since but did quite a bit of damage to my slimmer that day. The fish in QT are so full of parasites, the larger of the two Angels is eating well too, I hope I can get them through this.

Thanks Dan. I know man, I almost opened my own store around the time SEA opened but then construction picked back up and I went back to work. If I was positive I could make the same salary that would be a cool job. It really is what I love to do but not sure if its what's best for my family and they are all that matters.

Sorry to hear about the sick fish Brett.

Hypo+chloroquine phosphate.

Hey Jim, I'm still on the fence about diagnosis on this one. I quickly jumped to the conclusion that it was ich but I'm not seeing the skin symptoms just a lot scratching. I noticed some pretty serious head shaking today and decided to start with prazipro and go from there. I've always respected your thoughts though and would love to hear them.

Hey Ed, I Normally have two set up these days too but with the ten days early and zero notice they caught me with my head you know where. I didn't even have time react. I got the tracking notice the night of my anniversary, you can guess how much I got done that night. I went to work the next morning and came home to fish. Ill do my best with them though, hopefully it works out.

As far as the Mitratus goes he's a pain but I love him, LOL. he does eat pellets really well and I did put the auto feeder on after that first day, hopefully this helps. So far he only like slimmer :spin2:. Thanks for the help man, really appreciate it.

I hope it works out for u man!

Thanks man, me too. these multi bars are some of my favorite fish I've ordered yet, they have such a great personality.

Man that has gotta suck. Hope all goes well. At least the good news is one of the fish is eating.

Maybe not as bad as I thought, they seem to be responding well to Prazipro. The foxface was acting completely different in a good way within an hour. We'll see how things are going tomorrow.

Im really not sure at this point. I lost a linespot flasher and one of the multibars at this point. The other two flashers are starting to act normal and are out and eating but the smaller multibar and foxface just kinda hide an have zero interest in anything. Im not seeing any flashing or scratching at all at this point which is good but it doesnt help anything when they wont eat. I planned on having blackworms available for these angels but since bluezoo decided to ship at their convenience instead of mine I didn't get to do that. Hopefully the order isnt a complete loss but Im not feeling too great at this point. Only time will tell I guess.

Sorry to hear Brett. I've had similar experiences with Bluezoo, and their strange credit policy. The foxface may just be stressed, give him some time to settle in. Try NLS pellets and put nori out for him to graze. I hope the multibar pulls through for you.

Im not dealing with their policy anymore, LA is so much better to deal with and would've handled this messed up order so much better than BZ. It took them 2 days to even acknowledge that they messed up. I hope I can get these guys eating soon. The prazi did seem to help with the symptoms but now they seem stressed from it. Maybe they just need a day or two to get used to it.

Sorry to hear about the losses Brett. Best of luck with the others. It really stinks when a vendor screws stuff up. This hobby is hard enough even when we are properly prepaired, let alone when we get caught before we are ready.

Thanks man, I hoping for the best now.
