I didn't modify it myself, a friend who is a programmer did it for me. As near as I can tell the only thing he did was to disable the macros so it can run in Excel Viewer or Excel Starter. Its not a perfect situation as I have to manually copy and paste the data into the archives, I also have no easy way to graph the archived data. Its not a perfect solution but it works for me and cheaper than buying Excel. If you want a copy of the modified sheet please PM me your e-mail address. I haven't had played with the modified version in OpenOffice but I assume it will work.
 
Yeah disabling the macros would enable it to run on starter, open, etc. you are correct though it does lose a lot of its functionality and convenience. I'm glad you worked out a solution to still be able to use it.

The way I look at it a partially working version of your tank log is still a lot better than the basic one I was using before.

Thank you again for creating it and giving it away to all of us who are not very skilled with computers.

Thanks for the compliment. It's been my pleasure sharing this sheet. I'll have a standalone product in the near future that won't require another program to run so anyone will be able to use it. I'll keep you all posted.

Sean I just wanted to say thanks. I do have some skills on the pc as I am in the IT field but this makes it so much easier and solves my hardest problem as new aquarist trying to build a spreadsheet myself...exactly what all needs to go in it! Also done way more better than I some thrown together spreadsheet I would have made. Thanks again and just a thought, a link to this should really be stickied on the new to the hobby thread I think this would help a bunch of us beginners out on how to start a log and what all we need to keep track of. Again thanks!
