I am looking for aquascaping pictures! Anyone have anything interesting they can post? I am really wanting to do something different on a future project, so I need a bit of inspiration. Pic's can be of your tank or somebody else's, I'm just looking for something a bit different from the norm.

Anyone??

Mucho appreciated

Examples

One I saw on the OMAS site the other day, really different very cool!

Time to show off those tanks!!

This is an early picture of my 225g. I used pvc on both pillars on the ends, but not on the arch. I used zip ties on the one on the right and the pillar on the left has drilled rocks slid over the pvc.

This is the 75g tank. This is all pvc frame with rocks ziptied. There's a tall pillar on the left with a horizontal shelf that's shaped kinda like a c. The end of the c connects to the base frame of the arch on the right.

Nice Stephanie,

I'd also pull up Bloke's thread and George's (LL) 180 thread. Both have some different looks.

Agree with U on Benny Z, maybe 2 stark but great places for plating monti's and chalices to grow!!!!!

His also brings up the question of sandbed. Are you looking for shallow like his or deeper?

I agree with it being stark, but it has lots of potential to create some buttrusses coming off of the pillars. Or some other structures built off of the pillars.

oh ye of little faith, greg? ;)

You know the answer to that question!! lol

I don't know how you'll feel about the rock work, but I think you should try to duplicate the plumbing about 2/3 down the first page.

stupid post lag, i wasn't talking about your tank!! i was referring to the post about that softie/zoa tank's plumbing! (it looks like a spider of pvc)

I love your aquascaping! it's really varied and still provides lots of swimming room for the fish. and it really compliments the corals. :) Sorry about the confusion.

Nice Stephanie,

IMO, it comes down to rock shape/sizing. Aquascaping is something very personal. Some people like the apple-stacking look. Also, it seems like a lot of people are using the column/pillar style scape, but if you do not have a larger base it can end up looking like youre stacking pancakes. I wanted something a little more natural looking and to accomplish that it's important to avoid symmetry. Plus, I think the largest pieces of rock are essential for this design to look best. Regardless, here's shots of my tank...

Here is a shot before adding the live rock. 5 total pillars with LARGE bases:

I soon realized that the pillars could NOT be all the same height. Again, nature is random and therefore I had to cut a few inches off a few of the pillars:

Lastly, I wanted something a little more open so that the coral could mature and fill in gaps and the fish could swim more freely throughout the rock. I think it came out great!
