Aquascaping, Show your Skills...

Ive heard 55g are notoriously difficult to aquascape, with that being said, This is the rock that came with the tank, i wasnt able to hand pick or even choose the type of rock i want, it was already live, therefore making it a bit more difficult to scape. I think its about the best its going to get without drilling or drying and gluing.

i have used macro rock mortar and pond & fountain foam before with no ill effects.

You did an amazing job aquascaping you tank, it looks like something right off of th ocean reef. what rock are you using and where did you purchase it from?

sorry ive been away for so long. my tank is 120+lbs of fiji live rock which i bought years ago from a LFS.
awesome thread guys!!! definitely nice scaping!

Im going to set up a new 300g reef and am ordering my rock from BRS. Im looking at the pukani stuff and I was figuring a pounfd per gallon, will that be too much?

I have pukani in my 120 and am about to set up a 315 gallon tank with it. That rock is very light and goes a long way. I tried to put 80 or 90 pounds in my 120 and it was too much. For my new tank im going to start with around 150 pounds and see how that looks. Ill probably add some more rock to a sumo.

300 pounds would be more than you would want in your display if you're going for an open look. Ordering that much could allow you to pick and choose your pieces and the rest could go into your sump for added filtration if you have the room.

Btw make sure that you read up on phosphate leaching and pukani rock if you haven't already. I didn't have much of an probkem with the rock in my tank but there are plenty of stories about this issue. Its manageable if you have time to deal with it before you put it in your display. I have a brute can full of it now that im treating.

Well here is my try at my 350 aquascape. Its going to be a fowlr and I have a zebra eel so I tried to give it a cave for him to hide in. I am not real sure if I care for it or not. What's your thoughts???

Browning it looks good, my set up is right above your post and its setup for a wolf eel. He loves it and finds caves and holes I didn't even know I setup lol

Thanks! I think it is actually growing on me now. I can't see your picture; am I the only one that can't see it? I am hoping this will make my eel get out and about, he always stays hidden right now.
