Can't tell from photos or instructions - is that a screw type clamp? I am looking for a silent fan to cool inside my canopy so looking to mount this upside down to a brace across the inside of the top of the canopy itself.
This fan is not a good choice for a canopy. It is meant to blue across the tank and encourage evaporation. It does use a screw type clamp, but for what you are doing you would be better off with a computer type fan mounted on a side hole in the canopy. This would be superior at extracting heat from the canopy. Ideally you have an open hole on one side and a fan on the other, the open hole can be covered with a louvered vent available from many aquarium equipment suppliers.
I have had to do it before. Cover the place to be drilled with masking tape to prevent splintering and use a high quality hole saw with a center bore bit and you will get a very professional looking result.
