Are you ready for the power outages

Anyone affected by the power outages? How are you planning to deal with it when it happens? Although I have access to a generator it just occurred to me that I could use an inverter hooked up to my car battery.

I have two motorcycle batteries hooked to MP40 and Jebaos. When the power goes out, these keep the tank flow running and buys time for me to start my little generator on stand by.

this is a great question. what would i need to prevent wiping out my tank if the power was out for 5-10 days?

A generator. Shorter outages may be handled by batter powered air pumps (assuming it is neither too hot nor too cold), but for something that long, you'll need a generator.

I have a UPS which will run a powerhead for 4 hours, after that I have a portable generator in my garage thats never been opened.

For extended outages, I have a generator and always have a couple of gallons of gas available. Usually if the power is out, most gas stations don't have power to pump the gas.

You might want to take it out and run it every month or so, so you know how to operate it. Do you have gas for the generator? How about oil? Enough extension cords and surge-protected outlet strips?
