Area tank/stand manufacturer

Reefing On My Mind
Team RC
Hey guys... For those of you that didn't make it out to the MTRC swap, there is another option out there for custom tanks, sumps, canopies and stands.

OCEA Aquariums

If anyone is needing a tank or stand, I would check them out... Their prices are VERY competitive... And I think their tanks/stands look a heck of a lot better than GC... Better still, they deliver to Knoxville...

I'm having a stand and canopy made for me, so they'll be coming up in a little bit... I know BibleSue is too... I think Kim and Patrick are having some work done as well... Anyways, just wanted to give a heads up out there for anyone looking...

Their website gives the impression they only work with dealers, not consumers. Are you ordering directly from Ocea or one of their dealers?

I have problems with one or two corals getting burned every time I replace my 400W radiums. I had been thinking of downgrading to 250W, but it might actually be better to raise the fixtures by having a somewhat taller canopy built. I've always wanted front access to my canopy anyway (right now I have top access only, which sucks).

Randy - let us know what you think of the build quality once you get yours. How long did they say it would take them?

We are ordering directly from OCEA. Ty (owner of OCEA) said they would be in Knoxville 3 weeks from this past Saturday.

Jeff~ Just e mail Ty and he'll give you a quote... There are many upgrades... I prefer oak to the economy pine... But the pine looked really nice... You can also change doors, add holes for fans, and whatnot

As far as their quality is concerned, I thought their stands and canopies were exceptional for the price...

I thought that their tanks looked like they were well built, but their silicone work was a bit sloppy... I was later talking to Ty and asked why the tanks were factory defects (offered at 30% off at the swap) because they looked to be undamaged... He stated that they were defects because he didn't aprove of the silicone work... This was without me stating my opinion...

Someone in the ARC has an OCEA Frag Tank that looks wicked nice...

That's a slick looking tank. It's a shame they didn't build the stand flush though.

I might have to give them a call about a braceless...I was about to order an ADA, but if I can get a bottom-drilled braceless tank for a decent price, I'll go with OCEA.

Those are SWEET dimensions!

Ill be ordering a custom tank from them as well. Still trying to figure out the dimensions. Mine will be very similar...

72 long
26 deep
24 high

Starphire front since mine is in wall.

I originally asked for 2 external overflows but I sorta like the idea of the one long overflow. Will look into that as well. Out of curiosity, does the black silicone look better than the clear?

I think it is all a matter of prefernce... Most of the Perfecto tanks and some of the Oceanics come with Black silicone now... It looks pretty slick... But I prefer the clear silicone on rimless... :D

Thanks guys and gals! I am pretty stoked about having this tank myself.

Patrick I am getting them to make the stand and canopy as well. I also prefer the black silicone because I can't stand clear silicone that gets stained by algae or whatever if you dont stay on top of cleaning it. Plus I always end up tearing it up a bit when I clean it.

I think you will like the dem you chose I try to tell everyone that wider is better then taller. I was the one that ended up with the frag tank and stand from them and I got a top for it. But when I got the stuff home I decided to put the frag tank over one of my sumps and I grabbed a 90 from my brother when I was at his place. The stand is real nice and light the girls are woodburning some pictures on it and a vrs "Follow me and I will make you fishers of men". I will have to show you all some pict when they are done.

My new Frag tank...
