Right now $0. Maybe some time in the future if just donations and other money raising ideas for things the club needs don't cut it, but I'm sure there are many that don't have one.

would 20$ a year from say 10 people (if were lucky) really do much. I mean 200 a year, even if we met only 4 times a year that would be 50$ to spend per meeting. Am I missing something here?

Why would we spend $50 a meeting? No one said anything like that. Is this a repeat of your same zero$?
I just noticed you don't even pay the RC dues.

How about we could rent a TC mall kiosk for a frag swap to promote awareness of the hobby? How far will $200 get you there?

CORAs dues at 13.00 are more than fair for what they have after many years...but they can offer more"bang for the buck" than we can right now.

I can only assume they have WAY more to offer but they too had to start somewhere. I thought potentially a select group of people would be willing to pay knowing that the club had little to offer but with hopes in time it could grow into something in time. It would be gamble but at least if everything was spelled out in the beginning the surprises would be limited. Say for instance a clause existed that if the club fell apart any money in the treasury would be donated to predetermined charity.

I like the idea of dues for several reasons and even with that in mind I didn't know if it would be right to start them in the beginning. However I'm getting the impression most are again the concept entirely. That is unfortunate. I'd much rather pay an annual due than be asked for donations on regular basis. I'm not against donating but at least by having dues it will more evenly distribute and know that everyone is at least doing some portion of their share.

I want to point out, that CORA has dues but anyone can still use the CORA forum on RC whether they are a paid member or not. Paid membership gives them right to vote and other exclusives. The only exclusives I forseen with paid membership for our little group was voting privledges and paid member only meetings. Some meetings could be public but others keep more personal or.. 'private'.

I am going to let this fact illustrate what I am trying, repeatedly, and failing, repeatedly to say. This is one of countless bits of minutia that HAVE to be worked out. They require serious thought and consideration, and that cannot be done on a message board.

First we have to come to a concensus about what we want, how we want to do it, and who will lead it. In that order. Then we can talk about money, etc. I think before we can agree on goals, the rest of this is just crazy.

Agreed completely. I don't think anyone which suggested the possibility of dues had in mind to collect dues first then figure out what to do with them.

Putting out these possible scenarios for uses is just to open peoples mind to the idea.
