Aslam's Shallow Cube.

So, being a member on RC, thought its time to start my cube thread.
I have decided to implement the zeovit method as I had most success growing sps using this method.

Cube : 600 x 600 x 500(height) starfire, rimless, 10mm glass.

Sump : consists of 2 chambers, 1st houses the skimmer, 2nd zeolite reactor
and return pump.There is a small r.o. resevoir next to the sump.

Skimmer : Reef Octo xp2000 cone.

Flow : x2 tunze 6055,s on a controller.

Lighting: initially wanted the Ati hybrid Powermodule, could not source this
in South Africa, settled for the Ati Sunpower 6 x 24 watt.

Cooling: Hailea 150A chiller

Auto top up: Elos

Today's day 17 of the zeovit cycle.
I used dead rock that I acid dipped to cycle the cube, the cycle will probably be longer than 14 days.

Small update, added 2 small monti frags which are doing fine.
Recieved my new skimmer.

Just a quick update, got home last night to find my skimmer not working.
After openning the pump, I find the ceramic shaft broken, this after a week of use.
More importantly, I've added a few sps frags, nursing some that are bleached.
Will post some pics over the weekend.

Interesting, do you have snails or maybe some rubble in the shaft that you can see that maybe got jammed and busted up the shaft? Sorry to hear that, sucks.

Do you have a front take shot without blues on? Good looking tank, what's your sump like?

Definitely nothing stuck in the shaft.
Apparently this is a common problem.
Only 3 turbo snails in the display.
Will post a sump pic once I get the replacement impellar.

So recieved my new impellor on tuesday (20/09/16), got home today, skimmer not working.
Openned the pump to find the impellor broken, the second impellor lasted 3 days, first one 7 days.
Sheesh, thought Vertex was supposed to be quality.
Rather dissapointing regarding the inconsistency of my tank being skimmed.

Alright, some changes made, replaced vertex skimmer with bm curve 7.
Got bored of my tunzes, added x 2 rw4's.
Growth has been steady given I have started with only frags.

Thanks, lights only manipulate sps colour 10%.
The other 90%, is water chemistry and balancing nutrients.
