Anyone here have a pic of some asm mini skimate? Thinking about trading in my CSS for one.

I just put my ASM Mini in my sump 4 days a go. It hasn't broken in yet, but as soon as it does I will post a pic for you.

Thanks
Will

I bought mine from asmskimmer.com. They answered my question quickly and I received my skimmer in 3 business days.

as promised my new ASM G3....this thing works beautifully..........

irishfan, bet if you did the gvm and have effluent exit to that baffle, you'll be amazed at better production.
2 things,
1 it won't be reskimming water already skimmed.
2 reduce the amount of microbubbles going into skimmer.
3 for good measure, it works for me.. lol

got picts robsmith32? I'll prob do the gate valve mod...just a matter of when. How would it reduce the amount of microbubbles going into the skimmer?? If you mean those on the left that is actually from my supply coming from the tank / refugiums.....you can barely see the elbow behind the skimmer.

I've just drilled my G3 for a feed and had it recirc. COuld you show me you're feeding your asm skimmers with a feed. Right now I've got a 1" uniseal and I'm thinking of using a 1" pvc to feed it.

Would this work - how can I limit the flow to the skimmer by under 200 gallons an hour - via ball valve?

TIA

Use a Tee in your overflow return with the side out leading to the skimmer. Below the Tee place a valve to limit the flow. The more the valve is closed the more that is diverted to the skimmer, and vice versa. Hope that makes sense.

That's what I've been thinking... but I've been wondering what everyone used to plumbed from the tee to the skimmer. Do they use a flexi tubing? Is this what you used?

Any pics for show and tell to the rest of the class. Sorry for all the ques... I'm more of the visualize.

TIA

I am just about to pull the trigger on a g1x for my 54 corner but, I need to know the max depth of water this thing can run in to make sure it will fit under the cabinet with my current sump water depth.
Thanks.

I have one running on my corner 54 seahorse tank the height sitting in my sump is. 21 inches from the outside bottom of the sump to the top of the skimmer. Add a couple more inches to empty the cup

This is my second ASM I have a G3 on the 90 mixed reef, I love these things

Just wanted to say I have been a happy asm owner for the last few years. Also out of all the asm skimmers I have used the g-3 seems to be the best performer. I beleive it has to do with air to water volume.

why because I also own a 8-2 which is the same specs except its 2inches wider. Which would add to the internal water volume.

Both use the sedra 5000 so air input is the same.

Anyways here are a few pics of my g-3 from the first hr to now.

This was my g-3 in the first hr .Got to love it :D

This is when it went on to my 120 hard to see but it was producing some nice stuff. No ozone

This was 2days skimate a year ago . Ozone

g3 (ozone)and 8-2 side by side

again but cup shots

and my all time favorite is my g-3 still performs well even with another skimmer running. I only put this skimmer back on the system a week ago . I had got the 8-2 at a good price so along the way I swapped the g-3 out for the 8-2.

Both cups were cleaned the same time and the g-3 is the nastiest IMO.Also the g-3 has the 03 going thru it now also . Before the 8-2 had the o3 going to it .

clkwrk: For the love of skimmate...HOLY @#! That is the NASTIEST stuff I have ever seen....EVER

Got ask a couple questions....based on my recent purchase of the G#/Recirc/GateVale.....

How long did it take for your skimmer to break in?

Is yours the re-circ model? Couldn't tell from the pics..

I have a lot of turbulence thus far from the bottom of the chamber to the top? I noticed yours does not....when you first set yours up did it have the turbulence? Are you using a 90degree elbow on the internal section?

Of course mine has been setup for two days now on a 90G Reef...and the micro bubbles don't seem "Frothy" like yours...

Could you take a look at my setup? I have some pics on page 30 of this thread... I think... and let me know what your think?

Thanks for your feedback :)

The first pic was the first hour of operation however it was cleaned very well and had no plastic residues...

My g-3 is stock ..........But I have a g-2 recirc and it took a few days to settle in ........How many gph are you feeding it ? I feed mine via overflow but its a pain to get right and if the overflow rate changes the skimmer reacts.

Also my g-3 got frothier with ozone additon in the right amount.

BTW your setup looks perfect except I would drop the height on the out put tube. It's like setting the riser height. If you open your gate valve 100% water will still rise to the level of the gate valve.

SO if your skimmer did go bubble crazy you would need to un plug it because you wont get the internal water level to drop below where your gate valve is .
