Assorted Flounder

Alright so there's about 3 of these that just go shipped to my LFS and I've noticed that every shipment they get atleast one of these. But I plan on getting one once I get a protein skimmer because mine broke. Does anyone know anything about this fish or have had experience with it. I've been researching it and I just want someone who has had one before to tell me what they have learned from keeping one.

ive had them before and they are pretty aggressive
i tried to keep a firefish who was longer than the flounder and the flounder ended up eating the firefish on day one. they do hide most of the time under the sand with just its eyes poking out and dont swim around to often.

They are about as reef safe as a large grouper or lionfish - won't touch corals but eat whatever there is on fish and shrimp that fits in their mouth.
And most flounders get rather large - what you see in stores are basically still babies.
Also they need a sand bottom tank - ideally without much rocks... not really what you usually have in a reef tank.

They are one of the best fish to eat that I've ever had :D We use to gig them in the shallow water, and would catch hundreds of the babies when we were trawling for shrimp. As far as being in a tank goes, I would have to pass. They're very aggressive fish and you won't have any shrimp in your tank for very long and possibly would eat any small fish too. They'll eat anything they can fit in their mouth. They're a bottom dweller and probably won't be very active. Will mostly stay semi covered with sand waiting to ambush prey. But man do they taste good

You hit the nail on the head, I have no idea why these are brought into fish stores?
Whole fried flounder is delicious!

You haven't lived until you try stuffed flounder, stuffed with shrimp and blue claw crab lump crab meat in a stuffing mix. Then on top of this stuffed baked flounder you ladle crawfish etouffee over the top. MMMMMMMMmmmmmmmm man I'm missing living in New Orleans :hammer:

Nope, stuff it with crab and shrimp as you said... But also add some cream cheese and mushrooms in the stuffing, then panfry it in panko... BOOM!

I like my flounder like this:
