ATI LED power module vs. Pacific Sun Pandora Hyperion S

ATI have made announcement on FB with regards to new version of the LED Powermodule. The new version will be wifi enabled and feature new LED clusters which contain 410nm, 430nm and 500nm cyan diodes amongst others.

Any news on availability in the US? I need to buy another ATI Hybrid for my tank within the next few weeks.

I must chime in to share that I disagree with your assessment in this situation. Even on a very wide tank, say 30" the reflectors in the LED Powermodule do a superb job filling the entire tank with light. If one was to put these clusters on the edges of the light you would waste half the light onto the floor as well as have it shine into your eyes while trying to enjoy the tank. Comparing this to ReefBrites on a Sunpower is not an equal comparison since nearly everyone runs these at an angle which allows the light to be direct into the tank. Which having this at an angle also creates more reflection of the light off the water which yields less usable light for the corals.

Think what you want, but I can tell you if you put them on the outside slots( within your fixture) with 400,420 & 450nm diodes, slightly angled in with your reflectors, you'd have a fixture that you wouldn't be able to keep in stock.

Your bulbs do an excellent job of coloring acros and the LEDs would simply be supplementing and adding visual bling.

People are using strip LEDs to get that extra pop to supplement because no one makes the fixture I am talking about.

This way of coloring acropora has decades of proof from the early days when actinic VHO were used to supplement MH.

Adding another row of LEDs and a system that would angle them would probably add another $1000-$1500 on the fixture. Pretty sure keeping stock on a $4k fixture wouldn't be a problem except the carry cost of the inventory while its parked.

I too think there are lots of things that could be done to make the fixture better, but the key is doing it better while trying to keep it as affordable as possible.

Have you ever seen a Powermodule with LEDs only on a tank? Even a 30" deep tank will be beautifully illuminated with very little (I would even say less) shadowing compared to traditional LED only fixtures on the market today. The reflectors vs lenses is a big factor in the output difference.
