ATI Powermodule Hybrid - 24" Users

Looking for people who use the ATI Powermodule Hybrid T5+LED module for the 24" length, preferably the 8 bulb version.

I was thinking about switching to the 8 bulb version for maximum spread/coverage, some shimmer and longer light cycle (via moonlights/lLED utilization). However, I have a question regarding the LEDs...

I've heard that the LEDs are so powerful and have a concentration of par that most people don't go above 20% utilization of the LEDs. With an 8 bulb unit with a single cluster of LEDs, would I still get shimmer? I figured that with an 8 bulb unit, I'd have to really crank up the LEDs to get par. BUT I don't want to burn my SPS.

Input/Experience anyone?

I have the 8 bulb hybrid. There is a giant thread for ATI owners in the forum. Check it out.

You're correct, I don't raise mine above 20% for this reason. The LEDs pack a punch. I actually removed the reflectors from mine to reduce the PAR hot-spot which I think helps.

Do you still get shimmer and color "pop" at only 20%?

Yes, looks really nice with four bulbs on. With eight bulbs looks nice still but less shimmer and color pop. Very little shimmer with all T5's. Once my reef stabilizes I'm going to ramp up the LEDs more and maybe less T5. I can do this with the reflectors removed. See my post in the ATI Hybrid owners thread (probably a page back or so). There is a before/after example of the PAR hot-spot with reflectors removed from the LEDs.

Might be much to ask...but would you be able to take a quick vid of how your fixture goes from LED only, to 4 bulb+LEd to 8 bulb + LED to get a visual understanding of how big of an impact this is?

Do the quality of the LED's compare with those from other LED fixtures like Radion and Aqua Illumination?

The LEDs in the ATI are 75 watts per cluster versus the AI prime that is 45 watts. The Gen4 Radion are also 75 watts per cluster but the radion has fuller color spectrum and the new optics have a better spread. That being said The 75 watts in the power module is powering fewer LEDs where the raidions 75 watts is powering 23 LEDs. The LEDs in the ATI powermodule are much more powerful but the Radions have a fuller spectrum especially on the violet and green. The power module can hit a wider spectrum once you add the T5 bulbs.

The ATI LED cluster iis made up of the following colors I cant remember how many LEDs are in the latest version. ATI is on there 4th generation of LEDs since the release of the power module.
Full spectrum white,
Blue,
Royal blue
red

where as the Radion has
4x Cool White
4x Deep Blue
4x Blue
2x Green
2x Photo Red
4x UV
2x Violet
1x Warm White

All bulbs, 20% blues no white or red
