ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

ATI North America has assured me they test every light they sell but I'm starting to seriously question that with all the problems we're seeing. The problem is so easily fixed but people have to search for that help.

A few days after getting my light i emailed them about the flickering. I was told it was an issue that all of them had and the company was working on it in Germany.

I asked him why they would send a light out with a known problem.

His reply was in caps saying they would never do that.

I asked for them to send me a replacement.

Then I was told that all of the 24" fixtures have the same issue.

So I guess it was just my luck that in the 5 days from when I got my light every light they have in stock has the same issue but the lights they sold a week earlier didnt have the issue.

Love the light but not impressed with the distributor. I feel lied to.

I believe mine was one of the first to have the problem. I sent in a video because they had never seen the problem and wanted to see exactly what was happening. The 24" model they had did not have any issues.

After seeing the video, Greg was very helpful and just walked me through the total reset process. It wasn't meant to fix the flickering issue but that's what it ended up doing. They let Germany know of the problem and they thought it was an issue in the control box possibly.

Since my reset a few months ago I've never had an issue with my light and at least we now know an easy fix. I don't blame ATI at all because it was unknown issue with an unknown fix. Oliver knew nothing about any of it as well so that shows me it is a small and contained problem.

Just my thoughts.

When I first had the issue I posted in the thread and emailed Ati.

this is the response that I got.

Then I asked a few more questions to learn more about the issue and got this:

Unfortunately all of the fixtures we have in house have the latest version
of the software that causes the flashing, but our associates in Germany have
promised to have a solution very soon.
Would you like me to issue an RMA to have you send your fixture in and we
can send an updated one out to you as soon as we have the new software /
firmware?

The guy I have been emailing is Matt. can you pm me Greg's email to see if he can help. I thought the reset worked but the next day it started again.

Not sure what setting I broke on the camera now but it's all grainy. Dual ATI hybrids.

Exactly the problem I am having right now.
Reset and thought the problem is gone.
But seem it still flickers...
btw, is there a 'lightning effect' of this hybrid so I can be convinced that it is some kind of 'effect'...?
Seriously...

I would agree with what has already been stated as far as pros and cons for the light and would include the features of creating moonlighting.

The most important change since I've had the lights (December ) would be vast improvement in color of my corals. My reds have done great, I have NEVER been able to keep any blue or purple corals and have seen considerable improvement with this color. My birdsnest are brighter and have a much more intense color. All corals have done very well and have shown improvement. (With the exception that I didn't acclimate the corals in the beginning slow enough )

I'm very happy with the light and feel the T5s as the main lighting source is key to the fixtures success while having the LEDs to supplement I think there is a lot of opportunity to tweak the fixture with the "right" t5 combo as well as figuring out the best LEDs configuration that yields the best results for coral color and growth.

The sad part, I'm trying to figure out when I upgrade to a much larger tank, how the heck I'm going to be able to incorporate my current fixture? Bummer.

Can I see what your photo period and settings in the program look like.

Sure...

As you can see, I'm mainly using the CUSTOM settings. It's really trial and error with determining what effect I like. It gives me great flexibly as certain corals might be under or in the vicinity of certain LED Modules.

The T5's are running at around 75%-80% as I've been trying an experiment.

Any questions feel free to ask

I can't for the life of me set a moon light the lowest I can go is 10%

Easy fix. You have your SPACINGINTENSITY set in 10% increments...so you can only adjust every 10, 20, 30% etc.

Load up the software and click on SETTINGS.

A Box will come up.

On the left hand side of the box, under a heading:Grid, look for SpacingIntensity.

Change this number from 10 to 5. That will allow you to set the lowest intensity at 5%. Set it at 1 etc and you can increase in 1% increments...but that makes adjusting the profile more detailed.

Hope that helps.

Here is a PRINTSCREEN of what I am talking about. I highlighted/arrowed the Setting and the parameter.

The same goes for the TIME setting...you can see that I have my Intensity intervals set at 5% and the time intervals at every 15 minutes.

Hope that helps. :D

Thanks. I found the color I like. I was more or less wondering about intensities and duration. I have sps about 4-5 inches off the bottom and all of my lps on the sand so I been trying to find an intensity that will work for both. Since the sps is doing good it's a little to much light for the lps. My frogspawn and acans haven't opened in about a week so I got out the par meter, well no wonder they weren't open. The were getting blasted with 350 par. So I turned down the intensity from 90% to 80% and they are a little better. Might have to go down some more. It just seems like it's taking forever to find the sweet spot

Here's what did look like. If you have any tips I am open to constructive criticism

If you have lots of LPS...you could reduce the LED intensity to as low as 50%.

Remember, EACH of those 75w Clusters are kind of like AI Sols...so at 80% thats like 60watts of LED if used at 100% on all channels. You have 3 clusters, so that even with some of the channels being dimmed, its quite a lot of light. Then add the 8 Tubes of T5 as well...you get the idea...ITS A LOT OF light.

Then add the fact that the T5 and LED together punch light down really well...

I would start the LED's at max 50% and work your way up until you notice the LPS cant take no more. You might also want to reduce the overall length of the light hours which will further help.

I'm currently running my T5s at 50% and my LEDs max out around 25-30%. I still think my one SPS is getting too much light.

The LEDs are way more powerful than people think.

My fixture is about 8 in. above water and I can only run my leds at 45% and T5's at 80% on my shallow tank. I am still getting about 350 PAR on sand bed. It works for my clams well. :)

That's the thing. I have a clam and only 3 lps and a few zoas. The rest is about 15-16 sps mini colonies and 2-3 sps frags. Everything is in the bottom 12" of a 24" deep tank so maybe I should turn the down the t5's to say 75% and leds 50%? I've had them in between 2-3 months so everything is acclimated. I just need to find the right amount of light. As of now all my sps are in the 450-510 par range.
