Another thing I don't understand is why some German companies like ATI and GHL (which are for sure among the best in the world) still make such crappy software that only runs under MS Windows. Don't they know there are many other OS such as Linux, Mac...? They should make HTML software accessible from an IP.

Can't find any official info about resetting this fixture that way, where did you get it? You must admit it is very tricky. Perhaps a question of liability? What if I reset the fixture and it doesn't start again or works in an unpredictable way? Who is responsible for that?

Nevertheless your help is very appreciated.

Ramping up/down T5s is one of main features, and I love making cloud and sun rising effects.

On the other hand it's quite odd that those three different fixtures, bought in different times to different shops have the same issues.

I will contact ATI directly just to make you know. I'm sure they will ask me to send the fixture for them to check and I'll answer that I can't risk my corals being several days/weeks with no lights.
Would you wrap your fixture and send it to ATI because you can't dim T5s and time resets if electricity goes off for a second?

You won't find that reset on any website. I got it straight from Greg at ATI North America through email. If you follow my steps exactly, your light will still fire. The code I posted just makes sure your control box is set up properly. You don't even have to save your settings if you don't want to.

I'd bet that ATI will send you a new controller and just send yours back when you get the new one. I'll let Oliver know of the problems in Spain and make sure he is aware. He's a great guy!

I think you are a lucky guy, have you checked your T5s don't flicker when ramping up/down?

I am very happy with my fixture so far because my tank inhabitants are happy as well. I also would recommend it to my friends. Nevertheless I still think it is an unfinished product and next version will probably be the best reef light fixture ever.

The 60" fixtures don't dim here in America. There aren't any 110v dimmable ballasts for us.

My LED's flicker and the response or lack of from Oliver through pm and ATI Na through email makes me think they don't care about me or my issues.

The light is going back as soon as I can confirm an rma

Oliver is rarely on RC. I wouldn't expect a reply that way. However, ATI North America should reply pretty quickly during the week.

I am considering this unit for my 72" long and 24" deep tank but I can't for the life of me find the size/dimensions of the 8 bulb 60" unit. Are there any owners out there who could throw me a quick measurement of their unit? TIA!

to ATI, and they recommended I get the 4 80watt t5 one, much to my surprise. I will be keeping some sps, but they will be towards the top.

Does anybody have any issues with the 60" power module ???

I think the 8 bulb is too much for a 24" wide tank. You don't really need 8 bulbs until 30" or more.

You won't have enough spread with 4 bulbs on a 32" tank. You'll want the 8 bulb version.

I'm glad I bought the 8 tube version because I'm adding some phytoplankton to culture pods and water gets quite cloudy.

Actual area where corals will go is about 24" wide. I'm leaving about a 3" border around perimeter of inside tank.

- The controller mains the time for around 8 hours I believe. It is somewhere on this thread. It does revert to a standard program after the internal clock runs out of battery power, so its no way as bad as not turning back on at all. In any event, if you lose power for more than 8 hours, I'd be more worried about potential death of livestock after that long a time.







The first generation of those fixtures ( like mine) have controllers that don't keep time at all, if power is cut off. After power comes back, time starts at 8:00 am, no matter if power was of for a few seconds or longer. Newer controllers If I remember correctly keep time for like 30 min., not 8 hours.

I heard back from support.

The original version of the control box resets the time to 8 am after a power reset, a newer version of the control box keeps the correct time for a short period of time after a power reset.

Both versions remember the light program.

Just checked my... Unplugged cord for 5 seconds and what I see???8:00am up on the screen... That's sucks I didn't even know that...

Lol., it suck I know, but it is just like buying new car model, guess what? All later models will have upgrades, unfortunatelly it doesn't mean first year model is defective and that we get free upgrades. . I still like mine fixture and think is one of best out there.
