ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

I'm going to have to call reef geek.why did I get the old gen leds

I would not be happy about that. The LEDs from what I found out are not that much different , just a little more efficient and a little more powerful. IIRC 5 - 10%. However the biggest difference , and I find this very important. Is that the older model will not be upgrade able in the future. The technology every year seems to get better and better with LEDs and I want to be able to upgrade when they come out with better LEDs , for example uv LEDs would be nice to maybe replace the reds as I can get reds from the t5's. Also the newer model fixtures have the clip to keep the acrylic guard from sagging. Might not make much of a difference on the 4 bulb units , but a nice feature to have on the 8 bulb fixture.

Would I have to return the entire fixture?!? I thought I would just need to replace the clusters

ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Yes , you would have to return the entire fixture as the clusters can not be replaced. Which is why they can't be upgraded in the future.

Today i raise all led to full power to see some disco effects..
[...]
If i shut off the 4x54 sunpower a little bit of red&blue spot is visible..
Just to avoid misunderstandings: I suppose the above is meant as an extreme test case --would the typical ATI Hybrid owner run all the LEDs at full power during normal usage?

but with eyes at 1" from front glass..
That might be a concern when taking macro pictures, or when holding the camera lens close to the glass. Then again you could turn off the LEDs when taking pictures.

I have them at 80%. I'm honestly picky because I came from owning kessils which have virtually no disco ball effect and comparing to metal halide. Its the reds that cause the problem

Oh Yeah!!

Oh Yeah!!

Received mine today!

Man that's bogus!!! As if I got an older model

I downloaded with no problems.. I think by my experience..every time i try to push up reds have some trouble ..also i think that is a wavelenght that corals hate.. Is my opinion not a law

Well, there's been some thought that when corals get a lot of red light, they stop growing since it's a trigger that they're close to the water's surface.

However, it's also one of the most active spectra in photosynthesis, so I think there's a balance. Those guys growing tons of coral with 6500k MH certainly had success. Maybe it's something to do with the balance of red spectra to the rest?
