Hi all,
I was curious if the 36" fixture with 2 75w LED clusters and 4 39w T5 bulbs will produce shimmer when all bulbs are running?

I have the 8 bulb fixture with 2 75w, plenty of shimmer.With 4 bulbs I imagine even more.

With 8 bulbs the shimmer would be LESS compared to the 4 bulbs because there are more T5's to wash out the shimmer from the LEDs

The first generation with the older style LEDs will not be upgradable in the future when they come out with new LEDs. The newer fixture will be upgradable.

I just ordered the Fixture. How do you tell what Generation it is? is it possible some of the older gen are sitting on the shelf being sold?

I don't think you will get an old unit. Mine was shipped from ati directly even though I bought from a dealer. So we all getting the fixture from the same shelves.

new gen produce more shimmer... i have old 8 tubes and when leds are at 80/90% you can see shimmer (but no mh like..)

should arrive any day. I'm excited. I'm going from 4 overdriven T5's on a 75 to the 4 T5's with LEDS on a 120. Should be as much of an upgrade as I like depending on how I dial it in, yes?

My question is can I change my combo?
I want more of the uv look
I want to chage out 2 of my bp to actinic.
Will that affect my corals?
Plz advise

better is a purple + blue combo

Ditch the Actinic for either another coral plus or purple plus. The Actinic doesn't have enough par for sps.

Really only two choices I would say , the 48" 4 bulb , or the 36" 4 bulb depending on the aquascape. The 8 bulbs are too wide at 20.4" for an 18" tank.
