ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

Just got my ATI Powermodule and I'm having some troubles. When i connect the USB to my laptop and the laptop tries to install drivers for the new device being connected. It fails to do so however.

Should the drivers for the lamp be installed when i install the software. If it should then it doesn't seem be doing it correctly. If it shouldn't then where do I download the drivers?

Has anyone had this problem?

Just got mine started today. I first ran it in "demo" mode per manual. After that I went to the link to download the manual. Not sure if it matters or not but had the lamp plugged in to power (no lamps on except what I assume are moonlights). Then I plugged in the unit and it did it's own software thing. It did take a few mins but it was successful. Not sure if that helps at all.

Man, is this fixture bright! Are there any links or you tube stuff to learn how to use the software to program this light? I'd like to no shock my corals.

On that note, I'm running 4 bulbs on a 75 now and will be going to a 120 and having the fixture 10" over the water. I think i can go full on the with T'5s no issue then ramp up on the LED's. You guys agree?

considering buying this fixture... i've got a 180 gallon 72x24x24... would the 4x80w T5 fixture be enough light for my tank full of acros??? or should i go 8 bulb?? Also, would the 60" T5's be enough to light the ends of my 72" tank??? I'm pretty sure someone has answered this already but 61 threads is too many to read through... thanks!!!

Hi,
I am curious what your frame of reference is for saying this fixture is bright.

Thanks.

I am not satisfied with my ati hybrid and will return back to ONLY t5.

I just ordered my ati led powermodual. I went with the 4x80w version instead of the 8 for my 65" x30" x24" tank, only because I want to be able to actually put LPs on my sand bed haha. Sps will be medium to top of the tank. The light will only be covering 4" more than what it says its recommended for because of the inside dimensions of my tank being 28" in width

LOL, nothing more scientific then test mode on my floor facing upwards :p. Saw spots for a little while. Clearly doesn't mean a thing though until I see it mounted on the tank. I'm running 4 T5's now so figure I might see a little more punch but hopefully some shimmer.

No one has links or info on how to use the programming software?

Here is a video that Sahin made showing how the programming works.

I think I have decided to get this unit, but I have a question. I'm planning to initially use it on the 40 breeder, but within 2-3 years I plan on upgrading to a 165W (72" L x 24" W x 22" H).

I'm guessing the best solution is to buy 1 24" unit for the 40B now and then another 24" or 36" when I upgrade to the 165W? Would that work out okay, having two units over one tank? What number of T5 bulbs should I get: 4 or 8?

I know two units isn't the most cost effective, but I want the lighting I will put on the 40B to be useful after I upgrade, if at all possible.

Thanks!

Oh no!
36" pm hybrid and bulbs less than 1 year old and bulbs 3 and 4 no longer firing up.
demo mode... same thing.

i can't believe something is broken with my ATI fixture or bulbs at less than 1 year.
Need advice on trouble shooting.
Rather not buy new bulbs or send back fixture for repairs if possible.

Question for 4-bulb fixture users...What is the recommended strategy for selecting T-5 bulbs vs coloration of LEDs being run in the fixture? Do you shoot for the overall color blend you want in the tank when selecting your T-5s? Or should the T5s shift one way and then be balanced out by the LEDs? I am getting ready to order this fixture and I would like to have a nice shimmer in the water during the day when all bulbs are on. And, I don't expect to run this fixture at 100% - at least not for awhile.

Also, I am moving from an ATI T5 only tank so I am thinking that I will start out with more T5 than LED in my mix and then gradually shift the opposite way - more LED than T5.

Thanks for your thoughts!

First make sure there's no warranty left. If ati will fix it send it to them. If there's no warranty open it up and check the wires to the ballasts, make sure they're not loose. If they're all there let us know and we'll go from there

I wouldn't buy it personally until you upgrade but two 24" fixtures a little apart would work fine

You would wait because of cost (comparing two 24" to one 48", I know I'm going to spend a lot more in the long run)? Or another consideration?

I have a 55 gal FOWLR with crappy LEDs but the 40B currently has no lighting (it's being setup now and we want it to be a mixed reef), so I need to buy something decent now. My only other thought was radions, but I like the hybrid Powermodules much better.

Hi Sahin,

What would you recommend for a tank with dimensions 60x27.5x27.5 of SPS at all levels?

I'd really like dimming, but I understand that the 80w T5s don't dim on 110v.

I am wanting to get one of these. Tank is 35"l x 24w x 21h

I want to keep sps mostly and am leaning towards the 36" as people complain about only one led on the 24. I also don't want edges of tank to be darker as I want to maximize space for growth.

Thoughts?
