Are there any bad reviews of this fixture. I am looking at ballast and socket reviews someone told me.
There will always be issues with a small number units with most electrical items, regardless of manufacturer. But read through the thread; it seems like most people are quite happy with this light.
So after running this light for 5 weeks, I can safely say that this fixture is absolutely amazing. I have corals that haven't grown in six months now showing multiple growth tips, coral branches thickening by 50% and blue corals starting to become blue again.
I would appreciate some advice on getting the best out of the unit now, especially increasing the shimmer.
I'm currently running the LEDs on Blue+ @ 50% for 12 hours, T5 channel 1 @ 100% for 8 hours and T5 channel 2 @ 100% for 7 hours.
I realise I probably need to increase the LED, but I'm a bit nervous having bleached corals with LEDs in the past, so I would welcome suggestions on my best approach to safely increasing the shimmer in the tank, and any other recommendations to get the best out of the unit and my corals.
Thanks
Lee
Hi Lee,
You will get most of the SHIMMER from the white LED's...you will need to run the White LED's close to 60% to get decent shimmer.
What you can do is program the whites to run at 60% for around 3-4 hours so you get to see shimmer. BUT remember you MUST SLOWLY increase the amount. It might help to reduce the T5 intensity to 85% and run for 6.5 and 7.5 hours on the two channels to reduce the PAR a little bit.
Personally, I'd leave it a little longer to allow the corals to fully adjust before making changes.
What is your current T5 combo front to back?
