ATI Powermodule Hybrid Club

quick question i have 30gal cube 12x24x24 since last august and my corals are not growing, some have colors some don't just pale looking ..have only two small fish but i feed the sps every other day,,,,the water is ok since day one 1.026, cal-420,kh-7,potassium- 400,magnesium- 1400 ,No3-0.2,phosphate 0.02, so just wondering if the lights are too strong or not enough....? 10" AWL___ thank you

light schedule with 4 t-5 (2xblue plus,1-coral plus,1-purple plus)

I run 8x24watts along with the LEDs over my 47G. You run bare bottom and feed every other day. I think you need to slowly increase feeding to at least 2 x a day.

There is no doubt that LED's can grow corals. And it is becoming clear that colour is getting there. You also have T5's, so to be honest, I cant fault the lights. Maybe you can reduce the light hours by 1 hour, but I dont think that will change your situation. Even with lots of light, the corals will grow.

I think keep the light profile steady, reduce hours a little and then start feeding more and keep all parameters stable.

shouldn't bing the blues up to 255? and un them for 8 hours a day? the fish get fed twice a day but corals every other day...

If you reduce the light period then increasing the blue is ok. Increase the feeding. Feed 3 times a day. Dont concentrate on feeding the SPS as much; concentrate on feeding the fish. Keep doing that for at least 6 weeks before deciding to change.

so you think no enough nutrients in water ...ok thank you i ll try feeding more we'll see what happen....

Two things;

Tank looks young; hence needs to mature a bit more, and needs a bit more feeding. What do you use for filtration? Do you have some rock rubble in the sump for example?

well, i have some rocks in the sump but im not running skimmer ,i have one but since my nutrients are low no need to use it...i guess ...what worries me the most is that there is coralline growing anywhere and the corals are not encrusting to that branch....

My tank is 82 x 39 x 26. What is the best powerdule fixture to use? I was thinking about 2 units of 8x39wT5+2x75wLED powermodule but I realized that then I will have replace 16 bulbs every 10 months, that will get expensive...can I get away with 8x80WT5+4x75WLED powermodule for my size?

Would like to keep SPS dominated tank with some cool LPS mix on bottom and side of the tank.

Thanks

If it's 39 front to back then I think 2 8 X 39 is your only option. It will be expensive to replace the bulbs but it will be super expensive to purchase all LED fixtures like radions to cover that anyway plus who likes those??? So either way your going to spend some $$. You can go MH but electric costs will get you. I love my 8 x 80 fixture and really like a MH & VHO setup, but not having to worry about cooling the tank even with a chiller and the added controability is worth more to me.

Ok so 2 units of 8x39w butt to butt to cover the length yes? 8 bulbs with led in the middle would be enough to cover the 39" width? How high should i hang it to cover the 39" width nicely?

I have the exact fixture, and hang around 8" above water level. Still hit 120-150 par on sand bed at around 36" width. My tank is 40" wide.

stpatrick, Nice tank! Which Pacific Sun bulbs are you planning on trying out?

I'll be trying the PS Crystal Blue bulb and mixing it with a KZ Super Blue, KZ New Gen, and PS Pigment INT.

Thanks and sorry for the crappy iPhone pics. How do you like your combo? Here is what I just received today.

4x crystal blue, 2 x crystal UV, 1x pigment intense and 1x shallow water, 1x Spectra Plus 19500K

I have one extra to play with color. I have no idea what order I will place them in :uhoh3:

Well at the moment I am running 2x Blue Plus, 1x Coral Plus, and 1x Pigment INT. This combo has done very well in bringing out blues and greens. I'd like to see if I can intensify reds and yellow with a different combo.

Please do share some photos when you install the new bulbs!

Will do. I will try to get better pictures next time.
