The 6 bulb would be just fine, however so would the 4 bulb depending upon what you're keeping in there. What is the main focus of the tank?

If the sps are up higher in the system you could probably get by with the 4 bulb, however the 6 bulb would be my choice so that you can be more felxible with the inhabitants and placement.

The Powermodule fixtures utilize a very well thought out, high flow active cooling system that maximizes the amount of light output and lamp life from each individual tube. These fixtures are available from 4 bulb - 10 bulb, in 2', 3', 4' and 5' lengths.

The Sunpower fixture still uses active cooling, although not as much. The finish of the fixture is not quite as nice as the Powermodule either. The Sunpower is available in 4 bulb and 6 bulb configurations in 2', 3', 4' and 5' lengths.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Hi Jeremy, I have an 8 foot long SPS/Mixed 400 gal tank. The tank is 96L x 30W x 32H. It has 5" Eurobracing so the actual "open" area on the top of the tank is 20W and 86L.
What ATI fixture do you recommend?
1 x 48" and 1 x 36"
or
2 x 36".
Also how many bulbs per unit should I consider?
Thanks

Hi,

I would use 2 x 36" 6 or 8 lamp fixtures on it. You will have no problems at all lighting a 48" length with a 36" fixture. I have done this on various setups in the past with excellent results.

If you're trying to keep costs down then I would go with the 6 lamp Sunpower. If you want to get a little more light out of it then go with the 8 bulb Powermodule.

Thanks,
Jeremy

We do not have any dimmable models available at this time. I'm not sure if this is in ATI's plans or not.

The 8 lamp fixture is going to give you the same depth penetration as the 6 lamp, but the 8 lamp will cover a larger area of the higher PAR area versus the 6 lamp.

Thanks,
Jeremy

I am currently thinking of doing T5's. I have a mixed reef with SPS up top and the tank Dimensions are 24l x 24w x 16h.

Do you think the 6x24 Sun Power will be enough and how high would you hang it above the tank?

Also is the 6x24 in stock?

Thanks for your time.

Hi,

I think the 6x24 would be perfect for that size system. You can play around with height a little bit once you get it, but you could realistically have it as low as 3" off the top if you wanted, or up to 8" or so if need be.

We have 1 left in stock that we can ship immediately.

Thanks,
Jeremy

jeremy ...

i am planning a mainly sps system with dimensions of 36" long, 24" tall and 18" wide, but, the right 4" will be taken up by a nano wavebox and stream, and, the rock will mainly located in the middle of the tank lengthwise to avoid deadspots on the sides ... should i go with a 24" 6 bulb or do i need the 36" 6 bulb?? just seems like i would get a lot of waste with the 36" since the ends won't have many corals?? Thanks.

Hi,

The 24" would be just fine. What a lot of the US reefers don't understand is that you can light a 36" tank with a 24" fixture, 48" tank with a 36" fixture, 60" tank with a 48" fixture, and so on. European hobbyists have been doing this for years, and it works out very well. In my opinion it's actually more aesthetically pleasing to the overall setup as well.
