ATI T5 Lighting Fixture

Its just the standard OSRAM dimmable ballasts in those. Sylvania makes them as well... and the actual control is wired in to the ballast so you can wire it externally. Look for ballasts with the ending of 'DALI' in the model #... those are dimmable.

Uh, hello... did you read the thread of just scan for pics and give up?:smokin:
Some guys buy the swimsuit edition of Sports Illustrated just to read the articles.:)

Is the ATI Powermodule easily accessible everywhere but the USA or is it still in production? Anyone found a source to buy them now? Would love to give my business to ReefGeek, but I have been looking at an empty tank for about 6 weeks already, and don't want to wait another 2 or 3 months to get the Powermodule so that I can get my tank going.

Thanks.
Pam

Pam,
Last I heard, there are issues with converting the electricity to a US standard....the balasts for the Europe and other parts of the work work on a different voltage that the standards for the US. Last I talked to ReefGeek, they told me it is still in production for the US standard.

So get a 220v version, and get a voltage converter... they are like $20-30 for something that will handle up to 500watts. The frequency doesnt change, but as it turns out, the 220v ballasts can take 50 or 60Hz.

Yep there's the solution.
Those anthias from the SG site are awesome!

Tek was 152 running 4 lamps. The solar flare did 156 running a blue plus and super actinic. With all 6 on it was in the high 300's with a couple of the lamps shaded by the live rock.

which will put out more light?
TX5 Series Aquactinics 48" 5 lamp T5 fixture
or
48" Tek Light: 6-54W T5 HO Fluorescents (Blue) - LIMITED EDITION
or just which one has better build quality?

Hard to say with the new reflectors in the Tek. It will be close one way or the other but I would probably get the Aquactinics.

Sunpower > Powermodule?

Sunpower > Powermodule?

Grim,

You described the ATI Powermodule reflectors as itty-bitty and favorably compared the ATI Sunpower reflectors to those of the FM UltraSolaris.

So, are the Sunpower reflectors superior to those of the Powermodule?

Would the Sunpower be a better buy than the Powermodule?

Thanks for your thoughts!

Dont have the sunpower yet. The Aquactinics reflectors kicked the Fauna Marins. My guess is the powermodule reflectors are better than the aquactinics based on the fact the Powermodule was a lot more intense than the Aquactinics. The better ballasts play a part in that but having more than 100 more PAR than the Aquactinics I think the reflectors have to be playing a part too.

I am going to wait on Greg at reefgeek.....I havent even begun to start my larger tank yet as it is. Going to keep the smaller tek for a prop tank(my current 55).

Anyone actually given a tentative date on these badboys?

Is anything German in this hobby worth what is cost.

Sanjay I think will be testing quite a few T-5 setups soon so I guess we will see.

you know, I got new ati t5 reflectors for less than half of what icecap t5 reflectors cost.

but yeah, most things german are $$
