Atlantic Blue Tang?

Anyone have any experiences with them? Not a lot of info out there on the web and doesn't seem like many keep them.

A guy nearby is selling a 6-7" one he has had for over a yr and I'm considering it for my 240g.

I really wanted a Hippo but I'm scared to death of the constant Ich that comes with them.

Other fish in there:
V. Lion
Yellow Tang
Blond Naso
Maroon Clown
Aust Tusk
Queen Angel
Snowflake moray

And soon (once they grow some more)
Red Coris Wrasse
Brazilian Golden Moray
 
Cool looking fish and I've seen some big ones in the bahamas. Nice blue and I've heard they're hardy but same shape as your yellow and could be an issue.
 
I dont have a blue but do have a 7" hippo in my 210g. Ive had him now for 5 months and he has had ich twice. Actually im dealing with the secong round of ich now. What blows is that hes passed it on to my sailfin this time. Both are still eating well, so i just have to monitor and keep a close eye. Last time it only lasted about 2 weeks and he was back to his happy self. Hippos and powder tangs may get ick very easily but I wouldnt trade him in for another tang. Hippos are great fish, but a friend of mine did tell me if you even look at them the wrong way they will get ick , lol.
 
I had a 8-10 in blue tang along with a 10in naso, 5in blue hep & a few other fish. The Atl blue tang became a complete PITA who killed my naso & a 8+ in harlequin tusk. I also added a 10in emperor, 2 naso's & a sohal at the same time & he killed every one of them!!! Thus after 6yrs of owning him I had to let him go :(

Took him to a local shop & he was a bully no matter what tank he was put in which included being in a 75g with a 6-8 in fuscus trigger. My tang had the poor trigger cornered & was beating the crap out of him in a matter of seconds..... the tang was the new inhabitant to!!!

I can go on with what he did but I will stop...... The blue I had before him was similar age & size with zero attitude. Unfortunantly a tank whipeout killed him as well as sevelal other model fish.

They are VERY hardy but as my posts states.... they can get a attitude.

They don't look feisty in the ocean. They even school in huge numbers. When I was in cancun I swam over a school of about a 100. They weren't full grown though. Now that I think of it most of the full grown ones were by themselves.
 
I've kept young ones, either yellow or just turning blue (looks kind of like a dull colored purple tang at that stage) all of the ones I kept became very agressive and tried to kill any new fish I added. I don't recall them ever really going after fish that were in there first, if you try one maybe it should be the last fish you put in.

I live in south FL and I've dove with many, IME even the big ones school. The young still yellow are always alone, but as they change color they group together with the other surgeons and form big mixed schools.
