Attaching Red Gracilaria Clippings ~ Will it Grow?

I dig growing Red Graci in my display. I have a really healthy macro that grows like crazy and is deep red.

I just clipped it back quite a bit today to harvest some Tang food for fish in some other tanks.
I was wondering if the clippings can be attached to form newly established macros.

I was thinking of tying some to a rock and see what happens.
Anyone try this?

The rest is Tang food.

Since my tang is in my display, I can't grow it there. I do grow it in my algae grow out tank with ulva without problems. I don't have it attached to a rock but I don't see why it wouldn't grow in time.

I suggest dosing with iron (see this article - http://www.advancedaquarist.com/issues/aug2002/chem.htm ) to give the graci a boost.

i think you might be able to get it to attach w/ a rubberband. i was doing this before but i have doubts now to whether it was really gracilaria. either way, it's simple and worth a shot.
