Ahh RC I've bought stuff from them. They have good products.

And great customer service!

Had another clutch of eggs laid last night.

I think I still have over 100 in my larvae tank. I now have tons of rots, which they are enjoying.

i have a mated pair of maroon clowns that have produced eggs numerous times over the past year. never tried to keep any alive, thought i or 2 would live by chance. no luck. anyway i would like to try to keep them alive this time. just got a breeder box and moved the shell which they are attached to into it. whats next they are sliver and i believe ready to hatch. can i feed them frozen food.

You will need Phyto and rotifers to feed them. A dedicated tank is also recommended.

If you really are interested Joyce Wilkerson's book is great!

I can't believe the difference a healthy rotifer culture makes. I'm going to mark this down as something I wish I had known 6 months ago

Very well. Definatley 100+ Most have their first head stripe. Some are lagging behind as usual.

I agree, FB. I just started new cultures with new rotifers and what a difference. I feel better now having alot more rotifers.

how old are they?? I think with all the ammonia issues that i am having my little ones growth has stopped. I still can't really tell if any of the survivors have been through or even started meta. That process should take place between days 8-12 right?

Once you get the hang of things you will get better. I just went back and checked. My first stripe when I started was day 12 and that was just one of them the others didn't come in till day 15. I was also wondering why I wasn't getting them earlier like others.

Patience you will get the hang of it. READ READ and Read some more. If you havn't already done so. Go back in this forum there are some great threads that are older. I have read almost every thread there is and learned a ton.

It's also great the things we are teaching each other on this forum. I thought my rotifers were doing really good until I saw a real batch last week. Really opened my eyes.

I was just feeding before bed and noticed that I had at least 2 fish with a second stripe on day 8. I also have about 10 that have not even started met yet. The ones that grow fast are the ones who master the art of hunting fast. They are the ones with the massive bellies on day 2 ;)

Agreed i have read some of the older threads as well in this forum and have learned from them as well at least i think i have lol...

Patience Patience yes that is a key factor it seems for this roller coaster ride!!

I know i am probably not teaching anyone anything at this point but i sure do appreciate everyone that has helped my along the way and i hope to return the favor at some point in time.

I found it interesting that you mentioned when you looked back over your notes to see that the development pattern has changed with time & experience; gives me hope that my little runts might just grow up some day. lol

Don't forget to check the archives ;)

What causes something to go to the archives. I noticed that some of my posts from 2008 are in there. I figured archives would have been older threads (ie 2002).

Everything that was existing when we made the archives ended up in there. Anything over 2 years old ended up chopped off the active site and now is only found on the archives.
