I've been on the lookout for a small GS maroon clown for awhile to pair w/my female maroon. I finally found one today! Acclimated the lil guy and put him in a floating container w/tank water circulation. After the female saw him,s he went ballistic, bumping against he plastic. After about 4 hours, I noticed that she lost interest in him entirely so I decided to let him out.
It's been about 30 mins, and so far, not a single bite! The male is being very submissive, trembling, and doing a motion like kissing her gill, and the female nudges him w/her mouth ... appears like she's opening and closing her mouth against his body, but not biting him at all! And they end up doing this interesting "dance" almost, b/c they end up swimming in circles! It's very cool to watch. Sometimes the female gets tired of him and swims away, leaving the male in his spot. Then she comes back and the "dance" continues. I know it might be a bit tentative, but I really think they'll pair! What do you guys think? What a low key female, I must say
