August Meeting

Sorry I missed the meeting. I was putting a french drain in my yard and as usual it took longer than it should.

Thanks to Mel and Brent for hosting another great meeting. I always enjoy coming to knoxville and spending time with you guys/gals. I had a really good time.

Mel the pink zoas are opened up and look great.

Randy the frozen F&I zoas are opened up and look good too. Man you just can't hurt zoa's!! I got some at the frag swap and these are a diff variety. It's pretty cool to have both. If you want I'll get you a frag of the other ones I have. Let me know.

Thanks Mel for hosting and allowing us to crash your meeting.

Your new house and tank are very nice. I should have taken you up on the tubs zoas, but was crossing my fingers for anthias at the local stores. No luck :(.

The frag is great after I got all those AEFWs and RBs off. Just Kidding, but after you guys gave me such a hard time about being raised in a barn and my recycling habits, figured I should return the favor. :).

Always great meeting everyone and hope you guys can make this way sometime.

Thanks again
Brandon

Great meeting Mel!!! Had a good time as usual... And I showed up somewhat grumpy... lol Guess a few beers and reef talk is bound to swing that around... Thanks for the frags!!!

Damn them Chattanoogans though... Drag them all over Knoxville to different LFS and they're still not happy... Though now I'm convinced I'll have to make the trip down to Cappucino Bay... Though I'm not sure I want to ruin the joy I have for our LFS... We'll just have to see how great their meetings are down there in September... lol Thanks for making the trip up guys!!!

No prblem guys. We had a great time too!

Brandon just let me know when you want some of those and I can try to pry them off that piece of cement or wahtever it is they are sitting on! I know what you mean about not finding any Anthias. Bartlett's are more expensive so no one around here carries them. I was thinking of just ordering some online but I don't have a quarentine tank and I heard that's one type of fish you really HAVE to quarentine (for various reasons).

had a great time till randy showed up hehehe just kidding the life of the party was having them chatt dudes there to pick on but it was a great time hope to do it again soon and thanks for all the cool stuff mel I owe you big time all things look good in my tank

I was thinking of heading down there today... But I HAVE to finish this damn bathroom... I have company coming in next weekend... Maybe I'll be able to stop by there on my way home from FL... But only if I don't spend all my money down there... lol

Hey Eddie is that mexican cornbread a secret family recipe or can you share it? If you can I would love to have it. Let me know.

Thanks Mel & Brent. Love the new tank. I may have to down size to one like that~ much easier to work in vs 30"...

We'll give you time to work on brent about drilling holes through the wall/floor to get that chiller out of the house.

Well i guess the camera on my phone is screwed, because every pic I snapped had my finger in it or the phones antenna.

Anyways today was the best I have ever seen it.

I got two dendro polyps, a 4" barney purple encrusting montipora, and some really nice blastos.

Check out the website.. click on the pictures to watch the different videos... they have tanks of acros and clams.

Sorry the pics didn't turn out.

BTW they had the following anthias:
Disbar
lyrtail
Square
Sunburst

No Bartletts :(

Brandon

So, he finally decided to frag that dendro. I've been buggin' him for months to frag it but he never did. Just out of curiosity, what did he charge for a polyp? Feed it often and it will grow, neglect it and it will perish, but I'm sure you know this already.

I suck at pic taking.. all are fair but I can't capture the purple in the first pic, but you get the idea.

Brandon

$75 for the two small polyps.

He had three more polyps for sell that were $75 each, then he was going to hold off for a while again on selling.

Your pics are a lot better than mine... lol Nice corals BTW...

Thanks randy after the tour de local stores the other day, you really need to head down. You won't regret the trip. The prices are probably the same as your local stores, but the quality is at a whole different level.

Brandon

Go northeast, quality is comparable to Capp Bay and prices are better! Plus, it's a whole lot closer! I'm surprised to see single blasto colonies; they've been shipping them mounted several to a rock lately to not exceed CITES quotas and bring more in. The monti looks very nice but watch out for the nudis.

Dave

The blasto has about 8 heads, but i only took a pic of the two polyps that opened first.

Northeast? you refering to Under the Sea?

Thanks on the heads up on the nudies... I do a 2x recommended strength dose of Tropic Marine Pro Coral Dip for about 25 minutes and give them a good look before they go in the display.

Is there another procedure that you would recommend?
