Dudester, don't laugh now...with that big new tank in the works, you MAY need a 200g freshwater reservoir to keep up! :D

Mike, I don't see the problem. Move your new tank into your new home and enjoy it. The way you've described the situation, you make it sound like a mere quarantine tank to hold your livestock for 12 months.

With people like Aaron and John to help you, I'm sure you could transfer your livestock from old home to new without too many losses. Just remember to bank some of your corals with some ARC members.

You should just proceed with your original plan of keeping this tank and emulating Edward and James' beautiful reefs.

Remember that bigger tanks mean more money and more headaches. Oh wait, you see that at work each day. ;)

Marc, thanks for your thoughtful input. Actually the only problem I see is that I won't have a rimless tank in the new home, which I'll really miss. I'm actually happy to be moving into a larger tank, and like you said, there'll be enough help here that I'm not predicting many losses. But the house will not be set up in such a way that a free-standing tank will look nice; it will be better as a corner in-wall. The rimless would be 'wasted' as an in-wall tank, so I figured I might as well go larger since there is space to do so. I see your point where I've described it as a temporary QT, and I didn't really want to give that impression. I will continue to improve upon this system until the move occurs, I will acquire new corals and other inverts, probably fish as well, but this will not be my final tank. Tell you what, we won't think of it as a quarantine tank, but instead a 'grow-out' tank.

Dude!

Is there such a thing as a FINAL tank?!?!??!

... Say it aint so!!!!!

There's always got to be a next tank, this is just another upgrade! Have fun with this tank and experiment with flow, corals, and fish, and what ever!

Congrats on the new house too!

melev - I can dream, can't I?

Your words are wise indeed, Sensei. I plan to do just that!

congrats on the new custom house. i would relocate the rimless into the kids room instead of painting Nemo on the wall :D

Dude Bob is the GURU of all guru's.
You can keep it on 3/3 but its not needed after phase one. Every system no matter what is always diffrent. Bob Alexander Marshall Jeff they give out the best doses they can to get you going. But to REALLY REALLY make the system work, you need to take the time out to tweak the doses month after month untill you find your systems sweet spot. There doses they give you is a safe dosage that will work but its up to the user to tweak it to there tanks needs. And that and only that is the reason those simply AMAZING zeo tanks look that way. That is also why those guru's tanks look like they do. Simply because they took the time to figure out "THERE" systems needs. Ok here's the trick to the system.

1. Startoff w/ 3/3 the basic4 and one of the gurus suggestions to dose.
2. Deal with the 1st 3 phases
3.Start dosing CV for one week
4.Add AA dose it for one week as suggested
4a. If signs of overdosing stop a few days then start again with a lower dosage.
4b. If no signs of over doses then add another couple of drops until you find that perfect dosage that will maximum your dosage with out overdosing it.
5. Same as #4 but with the next supplement you want to use and so on and so on.

It is a very long gruelsome process BUT what will happen is in a year your tank will look amazing and you will have the system downpack and it will only get easier and easier as it goes.

Tanya, you makin life difficult for me...now i gotta come here to listen to Zeo talk! LOL ... jk :D

I think Anthony's telling you wrong thread, cuz you should be discussing this in mine!

lol I was like damn i thought i went to dudesters thread lol.

T, feel free to ask me anything my husbands better at zeo then me. I can PM you his AIM name if you wanna talk to him. This is one of my only post on RC about zeo because of all the problem in the past this site had with it. We lost ALOT of knowledgable reefer that used it back in the day and it was a hit for this sites users. So I normally keep quite when it comes up. Dudester is a awesome guy from what I can tell on this site so I dont mind talking about it with him knowing it wouldnt turn into a issue. ;)

Now where is this thread located?

Tanya - Great posts, thanks for the input! What you write makes entirely good sense, and is something I will change about how I'm using the method. You'll be hearing from me more in the future. Thanks!

ycnibrc and tbone - You guys are cracking me up  . I don't think it matters which thread an answer is posted to, since we all seem to read the same threads anyway  . Speaking of which, are there any good ones I'm missing?

Marty - That's from this thread, and represents Tanya's view on the zeovit method. If you are interested you can check out zeovit.com for lots more.

Bart - Almost missed your post up there. Thanks, and I'd surely rather have nemo swimming around in her room as opposed to being painted on the wall  , but as much time as I devote to my one tank, I'm pretty sure that two is out of the question.

I finally got the opportunity to change out the ballast on my Powermodule. If you recall, the ballast that controls lamps 1 and 2 went out, and I received a replacement from Reefgeek a while ago but didn't have the time to make the switch. Wow, this was a pain, but it was a success and I now have all 10 lamps firing. I took the opportunity to clean the unit well and I changed out a few of the lamps to give a bluer spectrum which I hope will color up the corals better. I removed a UV Aquasun and replaced it with a KZ Fiji purple, and I removed an Aquablue (which actually looks white) and replaced it with a Blue plus (20K look). Here's the new array.

lamparray2-12-08.jpg

For those keeping track, the lamps are as follows:

top
blue plus
auablue
super actinic
pro color
blue plus
fiji purple
blue plus
super actinic
blue plus
aquasun
bottom

"Top" corresponds to the front of the tank, while "bottom" corresponds to the rear. I'm in the midst of some maintenance but I'll get a photo of what the tank looks like with this lamp configuration soon.
