Bud, I just read this. I'm REALLY sorry to hear your woes. Keep your chin up man, I almost threw in the towel a FEW times last year but I'm glad I stuck around. I didn't lose fish, just a lot of Benjamins.

Thanks David. Yeah, I can see how something like this can cause one to take a break from the hobby, but time heals all, and I'm looking ahead to better things.

I lost abunch of fish a few years back to big ich out break. It really killed me I almost gave up. It hurts bad when you loose fish. I lost 2 of my predator fish during the move from my tanks to the 300. I dont want to even talk about it..I am looking to do a QT soon for a school of anthias.

You have a beautifull tank and I look forward to seeing your success.

erics3000 - Thanks man, I see you know how I feel.

It could be the curse of the D300.

Marty - I haven't repeated the FWE treatment since that one time. There are several flatworms visible on the glass at any given time, but I'm impressed at how stable the population seems. It doesn't appear that they are increasing in numbers, at least as I'm able to determine. I've noticed that on the glass there are many, many small white immobile dots about the same size as a flatworm, and it may be that they are continuing to die and are showing up as those small spots. I don't know if this is the case or not, but I've never noticed these things before the FWE treatment. I would have thought that with no natural predators and no additional medications, the flatworms would have been teeming on the glass and everywhere else by now, but I don't think they are. Weird.

Chris and the reefer formerly known as RoBolton - Thanks for your kind words and support guys. It seems as though the Club of Hard Knocks has many members. Good, I'm over it, let's move on, shall we?

Marty - No, not specifically. I have a tank I use for quarantine, it's a 20 gallon long, which should be fine for that purpose, unless I end up putting 5 tangs in there. Don't worry, I won't.

Good question Chris. Well, I've hit somewhat of a lethargic stage with this tank. Construction has actually just begun on a new house, and with that will come a new tank. It'll probably be a year until the move, so I still have time to make this tank at least fun to look at until the move, but I don't think I'm going to go crazy buying corals and fish since I know they will all be at risk with the move in a year. So for now, I'm still letting things settle out from the recent events.

How exciting! Congrats on your new home :) It would've been nice to watch your curren tank evolve, but I"m sure the next one will be even nicer!

GSMguy - 1000g? Sheesh, I wish. No, despite my desire to build a house around a tank, my wife instead wanted to build a house, and I'd be allowed to fit whatever size tank in it that I could. The largest tank I could fit into the plan is a 72 x 48, either 24 or 26" tall. It will be built in and exposed on the front and one side, and there will be a relatively small tank room behind it for supporting equipment.

tbone28 - Thanks for the congratulations. Yeah man, I'm actually really bummed to know that this current tank has a definite end point. I absolutely love the rimless, topless tanks, and I had hoped to be able to eventually achieve what Edward and James have done with their tanks, but alas that won't be happening. I also really want to keep this tank as well when I move, but that won't be happening either.

I think a brand new house wins over a tank anyday, IMO. As much as I love reefing, I'd take that custom home :)

Your new tank sounds sweet. 72x48x26 sounds perfect! I'm already in love with Edward's 40" depth. 48" is even better! If I had seen Edward's thread before I ordered my tank, I would have gone deeper. I don't have the room to go 40", but I could've done 30".

tbone - You're right, cooler minds prevail in this one (but I'll always dream of what it could have been :sad1: ).

jnarowe - The plans are done, bro. The form is down and they're pouring concrete today. Actually I thought I'd use the rimless as a topoff reservoir.

No, the rimless will be his frag tank!
Believe me, I considered that, but I don't think that will fly with the better half. Wouldn't that be sweet, though?
