cause it was with a camera phone

thank you raymond

The price on those guys has come down a lot, but unfortunately, they are very hard to take care of and probably one of those beautiful fish that should of been left in the ocean..

BTW - where are you? I thought you were comming to see me last week?

Yea this is the one but i cant find enough info in that page ia am asking cause i want to put it in my reef tank but i dont want it to die cause it is a precious fish and expensive

anthony im sorry but i was really busy

Tell you the truth bro, I have only seen one tank that was able to keep them alive for over 6 months so far.. They have almost 0% survival rate.. its really sad

Why would you purchase such an expensive fish without reading up on it? Im such a poor noob I read on snails ...Jk

Are u acclimating him already? Wow keep us updated for sure!!!!

Good Luck Hugo

I believe Steve Weast has one in his cold water display. Do a search for his thread here on RC.

They come from Australia and are pretty expensive. I used to sell them to clients for 700 bucks wholesale level.

They do not adjust well to captive diets but will eat live foods. Live brine, if soaked in vitamins will be ok. I hate feeding brine but you might be able to teach it to eat something else while you feed the brine.

It is a box fish. I believe like the rest, it may emit a toxin. If you have a large tank, no worries. If you have a small one, keep a lot of carbon on hand, and enough water for a water change.

Good Luck. They have a very very bad survival rate in captivity.

Please see my post above!! They are COLD WATER BOX FISH. STEVE WEAST HAS THEM IN HIS COLD WATER DISPLAY. THANK YOU.

Definitely a temperate water fish. 50-65 degree range from what I have read. Hopefully someone can meet the needs of this interesting fish.

Yes it is a cold water species. Please set up a cold water tank as soon as possible or offer it to someone that has one before you lose that beautiful species.

FYI I dont have a cold water tank

I don't really know anyone in Southern California that has a cold water system. Only other person I know right now that has kept a white barred successfully is Steve. I had a cold water system for about 6 months and it was still hard to keep them. They are beautiful fish but w/o a adequate system to keep the temp below 65 they will gradually die.

The person I know that have kept these beautiful fish alive lives in Taiwan and has it in his 450 gallon deepwater acro tank.. I really think its the poor acclimation procedures when these fish are imported causes most of the shocks and death. Good luck bro, I have been always wanting to keep one, and their brother the horned box fish.

I was at Steve's last week and seen both his cold water tanks. He has several species of these fish. Good luck Hugo, these were kept at 58 degrees. Very beautiful fish. I hate to see the wholesalers even selling these without passing on some knowledge:confused:
