Auto feeding useing return pump

I'm thinking of getting some lyre tail Anthias, but I only feed once a day presently. So I'm trying to figure out how to feed them while I'm at work. I have screens on top of my tank, so I can't mount a auto feeder over the top of my tank. I have heard of people mounting the auto feeder on their sump and useing their return pump to deliver the food. Anyone using this method? Any ideas?

I fed though my return pump years back before adding reactors. It works fine. Obviously you don't want to drop sheets of nori down there but flakes, small pellets and thawed frozen won't hurt anything and will be well distributed. That said, how what type of screen did you use? I have the mesh type of screen with 1/4" or so holes. I have no issues dropping food though that. While my feeder is on the opposite side of the tank above the other opening where fish seemingly don't jump out of, I have had the feeder over the screened side and the food goes right through the screen without making a mess on the top of the tank.

I'll be feeding the smallest size pellets. They would fall right through my screen tops but even the sinking pellets tend to float right down my overflows. Maybe if I mounted it right above my jebao rw 20 it would suck the pellets down into the water. Yup! Never mind, just answered my own question. Sprinkled some formula 1 small pellets over the power head, and they were sucked in/ pushed out to the water column.
