Avandss 265 Montreal Build

Looking good! Here is what I went with for now. I am waiting to get my hands on the labeller again so I can make nice labels. What dosing system are you using? I went with the TM 3-Part. So far so good.

Hey Scythanith, i am using Randy's improved 2 part recipe
http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-02/rhf/

it is a joke to mix, seriously took me 15minutes for all 3 parts with a total cost of 40$, but that is for at least 50 gallons of cal, 10 gal of alk & 4 gal of mag

also for big systems its nice to mix more then 1 gallon, i calculated the jug's i am using and they are 2.3 gallons (i also like the little dispenser it comes with for easy filling of a measuring cup (manual dosing for my frag tank for now...)

btw we had a traveling set back with the arrival of the twins, but we are scheduled to head down in april :)

night pic with blue & uv

it looks amazing in person, and the library ambient led strips really blend in well

Only thing is it looks so empty! And I am crazy about qt protocols even for corals and invertebrets, I will be doing a blitz qt in my garage with
6-7 qt tanks to get things moving faster

This is hands down one of the most well designed systems I've seen, and it's absolutely gorgeous. I've seen dozens of high end systems in person, and hundreds online, and I cannot say how much I admire this set up.

I want to say that I admire it for it's simplicity, but it's not a simple set up at all. As complicated as it is, it gives the appearance of simple because it's so clean. That is very very rare. Big systems always end up being messy, no matter how well intentioned the designer is, but this one has managed not to!

And I'm proud to say that the LFS for which I work helps stock this tank! Can't wait to see it's progress into a full reef!

Hard to say! I must confess that while OCD about fish quarantine, I'm quite lax about doing it for inverts. Been keeping reef tanks since about 1988 and have only introduced a pest on a coral once (flatworms) so I probably have become complacent.

I'd hate to recommend that you skip invert QT, only to have you get some kind of pest in your tank; so I'd say that you should keep doing what you're doing.

Looks really good. On those jugs you bought I was also using them for a while as a temporary jug, I found the screw on lid leaked a bit but I had them standing up right and my dosing hose went in the pour spout. If you keep them like that should not be a problem. Ended up replacing with the Avast Dosing jugs which are nice albeit a bit smaller.

I couldn't get you web cam loaded? Is it running open to the www still?

Good luck getting the fish through QT.

Dave

Thanks Simon, also you have 20 some year of reefing experience, you are better prepared and can assess a situation better, i have no choice but to play it safe, to much on the line
