Looks terrific. If you are ever by Aquatic Gallery check out the pottery that he has in the tank for the Maroons to spawn on. It can make pulling the larvae out a 5 minute task.

Be great if someone can share a picture of this! :)

I don't have a picture but I thought it was pretty clever how he got pottery on an almost vertical survace. I think it was two pieces. One attached to the rock work and a second piece that lays on top of the first piece.

not my first time, but my first successful hatches!

I usually start feeding rotifers, and then switch over to baby brine shrimp right before metamorphisis. I start feeding cyclopeeze around day 30.

Is this the first time you're raising these? What have you been feeding them and at what age did you switch to the next type of food? This is really cool, thanks for the photos.

yes, I've seen this, he breaks the pots and places them right under the anemone. Unfortunately for me, they've decided that they want to spawn on a big piece of rock that I can't take out. I've tried putting pots and tiles next to their spawning site, but they won't spawn on it.

Can you put something on top of their spawning site? I did that to my Clarkii and they HAD to pick a different spot.

Great pictures!

Makes me want to quit my day job and be a clown breeder.

Regarding anemones, Fingerwrinkles clowns are so awesome in part because he has RTBA's in his grow out tanks and the clowns are used to living in them. When I bought one and put it in my tank, it took about 5 seconds to jump into a GBTA. It was great to see.

I've had other clowns that take months and months to host (if ever).

Right now, I have a pair of True Percs and pair of False Percs in my main tank. Though I think they are of breeding age, as far as I can tell, they've never laid eggs.

What reference or source was the best for you to learn how to breed them and raise them?

Congratulations and Best of luck,

Roy

How long did it take for them to start spawning again? I'm afraid if I do that, they'll stop spawning.

Breeding these clownfish is almost my day job... I have 4 batches going on at once with a 5th coming next week!

Hmm, maybe I should try putting a rose anemone in my growout tank...

sounds like a great idea. i bought some clowns 6 months ago and they still don't host anemones, don't even know what they are. everyone says they're stooooopid. :D

Be sure to put whatever you want them to spawn on in your sump before trying to use it. You want it to be "cured" and smell like the tank. In fact, keep a few in the sump so when they do use them, you'll have one to put in when you pull the eggs out on hatching night.

I used to mess around with the display tank a lot, but within the last year I haven't added any new corals and fish, and besides feeding and water changes, don't put my hands in the tank at all. When I left them alone, they started spawning.

As for references, I read "clownfishes" by Joyce Wilkerson. its a good reference book, and will give you a general idea. I learned most of it through trial and error and talking with Tyler at Dolphin. HTH

good idea! I'll try it and report back. They just laid eggs again, so probably my first chance to put the tile in will be after this batch hatches.

have you tried putting an anemone with them, like trainning them to host? :D would love to see some new photos if that's not too much trouble. :D

i thought about putting an anemone in the growout, but I'm probably not going to do it because it'll get too hard to maintain water quality with all the feeding. I also don't have a spare protein skimmer laying around...
