I acquired this today by pure luck. I walked into an LFS and there it was. It's approx. 2" in diameter maximum.

The tank is lit by a 10x 54Watt powermodule but as you can see from the picture, I've placed the gigantea under an overhang to shade it and make sure that it doesn't get shocked by the light. I'll slowly move it into the light over the next two weeks to acclimatise it. I placed some mysis into the tank to distract the resident clowns from giving it their immediate attention and it captured some and ate it. Fingers crossed that it makes it but I'm feeling really positive about it.

Whats that thing on your rock? Looks like a sponge?

Yes it is a sponge. I suspect its a type which can be very invasive but it came on the rock with the gigantea and as the anemone is so small and delicate I didn't want to risk damaging the anemone by attempting to remove either it or the sponge. As the anemone gets larger I'll encourage it to move off that small rock and when/if it does so I'll be able to dispose of the sponge.

Just a quick update. The gigantea is still with me ! It's now in 90% of the Powermodules full output ( it's the dimmable version) and has grown about 3/4" on average. It takes mysis every day and it's tentacles are noticeably longer. By pure luck I managed to obtain another green one from a fellow reefer. The new one is approx 7" in diameter and although I initially placed it on a piece of rock at the sand interface it moved down immediately and buried its foor into the sand. I've had the second one for two weeks and it too is doing well. Must be my lucky month..... :celeb2:
