I love the Tank reefbum,im designing my new tank similar to to yours and I was wondering why you had your returns come up over the back of the tank as opposed to up through the overflows? Is there a reason why you never had two holes drilled per box and have the returns come back through the overflow box as well?

Im sure theres a good reason for it I just want to know if I should do the same as im getting dual externals also.

Thanks.
Jamie.
Thanks for the nice compliment Jamie.

I wanted the returns to go through the eurobracing since I didn't want to worry about any leaks. If they went through the overflows, then I would have 2 more bulkheads that could potentially leak. My preference was to minimize the # of drilled holes so I had zero drilled in the tank itself and just 2 in the overflows. It is a simple set up and minimizes the risk of any leaky bulkheads down the road. I also wanted to minimize the risk of any leaks at the tank, which is upstairs in my furnished living room. All my plumbing and complex connections are downstairs in the unfinished basement.

Hey Reefbum love your tank, just hoping that one my tank will look like yours someday. Small request, can you take some pic. of your plumbing, from the external overflow to your sump area down to the basement!

Nice reefbum I somehow missed this thread until now! I have a very simular setup as your with extrenal overflow, etc from AO no less. I really wish I would have done like you and sealed a peice of acrylic to hide my overflow. I tried to do that myself once it got here but it eventually leaked so know I just have a peice leaning in there. I think I'll have to drain the overflows and do something soon though as it's driving me crazy! Love the minimalist clean look (of course that could be because mine' slike that :) )

Any congrats and I agree with Ryan. Let that stuff grow out man!

Sweet looking tank. Those lights have some awesome color for being 10Ks. Frags look awesome as well!!!!! Keep us posted with some growth shots. Can we get an update on the Sump Room also.

Thanks mfaustria. My apologies about the slow response...end of summer, vacations, etc. Anyway, here are some updated shots of the plumbing. I could not get any good shots where the plumbing goes through the floor since it is such a tight squeeze. I actually put in about 16 hours of work to install the PVC.

Thank you as well Keith. The piece of acrylic on the back glass has really worked out well. I have been able to keep it crud free and retain that clean look I was seeking.

You have an awesome setup there sir. I love the clean look. I also love the Anthias you have. I have 3 lyrentails also and I absolutely love them. You have 2 thumbs up from me sir.

Looks great! Lots of room in the equipment room. How do you like the duel beckett so far? I am in the process of building one. Every one I talked to that has them loves them.

Thanks guys. The dual beckett has been great.

Here are some more pictures. I have been playing around with my macro lense so enjoy!

You looking at me?:p

Great shots

did you grow the Birdsnest from a frag?

Your photography skills are great. I love macro shots!

Again, your tank is looking sweet. I love the FTS with all of your frags. Do me a favor and post 6 month FTS's. I'd love to watch this grow out with you:D .

Many thanks everybody for the great comments.

GSMguy- I purchased both of the Birdsnests as colonies, although one was small. They are growing fast and are holding their color despite a little hitch I had with my Kalc reactor. I inadvertently switched the input and output hoses during routine maintenance. As a result, solid kalc was dosed in my tank for about 24 hours. The water was very cloudy and I had a slight film on the glass and corals and my pH spiked to 9.1. I had a 55 gallon reservoir of pre-made salt water so I did a large water change and held my breath. Fortunately I only lost a couple of frags and had some bleaching on a monti cap. That was a few weeks ago so it looks like everything is fine. Here are some recent shots. You can check out my website (www.reefbum.com) if you want to see more.

ReefBum, very nice setup! How do you like your 6200's on this size tank? I love the overall tank presentation.

Also, what is this for?

Thanks invincible569. The 6200s are working great. I have them on the controller so that is a very nice combination .

I built that box for the halide and Tunze ballasts and controller. I also have all of my light timers in there. It sits a couple of feet to the left of my stand and the cords run along the baseboard and are hid by a piece if white plastic. I have nothing under the stand but I wanted to keep these things 100% clear of any potential water. I also like the fact that the ballasts aren't adding heat under the stand.

Reefbum are you running SE bulbs?I thought the sfiligoli only came DE?If you are running SE are the any issues in running them on a HQI ballast cause I thought HQI ballasts were for DE bulbs only, except for the Radiums.Do you have the ACLS ballasts that are available.Still loving your set-up!!

Jamie.
