Reefbum are you running SE bulbs?I thought the sfiligoli only came DE?If you are running SE are the any issues in running them on a HQI ballast cause I thought HQI ballasts were for DE bulbs only, except for the Radiums.Do you have the ACLS ballasts that are available.Still loving your set-up!!

Jamie.
Thanks Jamie. These fixtures come in both DE and SE. I have the SE and I'm running Ushio 14ks on the HQI ballasts. I was running them without the glass lenses and a couple of my corals were getting burned so I just recently put the lenses back on. Overall, I'm extremely satisfied with the fixture. I didn't buy the ACLS ballasts because they are very pricey and I'm not convinced they are worth the coin.

Reefbum, what coral is the red one in the lower right hand corner of the tank. It looks like a red carpet, is it?

Beautiful! I love the tank and the aquascaping!
How do you keep the back of your tank so clean with those external overflow boxes?

absolutely fantastic!!! This is already one of my favorite tanks and it's only 8.5 months old.

Keep up the good work!

Thanks everybody for the great compliments!

Jim- That is a Red/Green Symphyllia or Closed Brain. It is one of my favorite LPS corals.

hatfielj- The rock does not touch the back glass so I scrape it every other day to keep it clean. I planned it that way and it is working out very nicely.

Everything is going great. The tank is approaching its 10 month anniversary and the colors and growth are very good.

A few weeks ago I actually switched from SE 400W bulbs on HQI ballasts to SE 250W bulbs on HQI ballasts. Certain corals had been getting burned so I decided to make the change since it was really easy to do with my light hood (I just had to switch a couple of wires to do the conversion). The burned corals are coloring back up up and everything else looks great. The bulbs I'm running (Giesmann Megachrome 14.5k) have a very high par so the experiment seems to be working at this point.

I will take some shots and post them in a few days.

How are you using HQI ballasts with SE bulbs?

HQI ballasts are designed to run DE bulbs, but can run SE bulbs just fine. I'm using an HQI ballast to run SE XM10K's over my 120.
