He loves those BBS !

Yeah i thought $70 was a little too much, I order my IA from seahorsesource.com.
It's $12.75 for the 125 ml and $20.75 for the 250 ml bottle. Smaller bottles and easier on the pocket $$$.
IA - SeahorseSource

Ammonia still high tonight, so it's another 50% water change and a little Prime.

Egg clutch 13 were laid on Monday. So I'm expecting another group of fry on Saturday evening. According to my calender, the female is laying eggs every 8 to 9 days.

Ammonia in larvae tank is much better tonight. I did a 1 gallon water change, adjusted S.G. to 1.021 and added fresh rotifers. Fry look bigger at day 6 this time. Will start feeding them BBS tomorow, along with rots and Otohime "A".

I bought the $70 bottle and divided it into 2 oz. plastic containers (from a restaurant supply store) and put them in the freezer. Reed claims it's good frozen for 2 years. I figured it would last me forever and would have plenty to share with others. I'm now using a 2 oz. helping every other day! Between the rotifers and the fry tanks, it goes fast. I'm sure you'll be happy with it...no more worrying about phyto running out or crashing...just reach into the freezer!

The people at SeaHorseSource.com are great. I get my decap bbs from them too. Great customer service!

Good luck with the new hatches!

Thanks for the tip on freezing the IA. I too have been using more lately. I think IA just makes all this a little easier. :)

I too think SeaHorseSource.com is the best at serving their customers ! I also think Reed Mariculture staff to be very friendly and knowledgeable at what they do.

Yeah i ordered my decapped bbs from them as well as a 250ml starter of (s) strain rotifers. That IA must be a very dense solution??
Because i have been dumping in 150ml a day to my 5g rotifer tanks; 100ml in the morning & 50ml in the evening.

Yeap. According to the Reed's website, it's 3600 X as dense as cultured algae. I only use 6 drops a day (per container) in my 1/2 gallon rotifer cultures.

The solution I use for Instant Algae is one 1 teaspoon of it to 1 1/2 cups of ro/di water, approximately. I make a few batches of this to fill a quart bottle which I keep in the refrigerator and use it throughout the day. This way, it adds the nanno for the rotifers and the fry tanks while also topping off a little extra ro/di to them also.

Update:
Fry since clutch 9 have faired better. I have stop using live phyto and have replaced it with IA T.iso. I have about 50 fry from clutch 12 a couple of days away from completing meta. Though I thought I started feeding BBS at day 6, it was really day 5 with no negative results. Last night half of clutch 13 hatched. Lots of fry in this clutch. Remember this was only half of them. Can someone please count them for me. j/k

This is my 4 gallon larvae (rubbermaid) tank, not the snagger.

Nice; look at all the little ones, best of luck with them.

I placed an order for some rotifer diet from reed's I talked with Randy Reed this morning and he was explaining how i can use this stuff instead of growing my own, and it was a little easier on the pocketbook than the 3600 bottle. I hope it works out as my phyto has taken a turn for the worse it seems.

How has the ammonia issue been since you switched to the IA?

Yeap .. I have one bottle of live phyto I will just dump down the drain.

As for the the ammonia with the new batch of fry. My test using just IA shows 0 ammonia so far. And this is with way more fry in the tank. :D My only problem is feeding all these guy. They go through rots fast.

Well i guess that's a good problem to have this go around, lol. After i saw what the ammonia issue did to my last batch i would much rather deal with possible starvation then stunted growth.

I was going to order the big bottle of IA but for such a small production he recommend i use the smaller one.

Update:
clutch 13 had some losses today. I'm upping their feeding. They seem to be eating the Otohime "A" also. Which is a good sign. :)

Clutch 12 is 12 days old and all appear to passed meta. :) Here's a photo. I know, I know, I need a new camera. :(

Thanks for all your help and support Barbara. Yes IA has made this time consuming project a little easier. :D

Update:
clutch 13 has had daily losses even though I increased their feeding. They all continue to be very small. Clutch 12 was twice their size at this time (day 6).

Here are more photos of clutch 12 (day 15).

They like grouping together in the corners. It's really cool to watch them sleep in one big ball.
