Yup that was how I got the clowns and surprisingly the cardinals (despite being nocturnal). The rest came out with some judicious rock removal to 5 gallon buckets. Also let me get rid of some pests. The poor Royal Gramma wouldn't come out of his cave so I had to hang him out in the air over a Tupperware for a couple of minutes until he finally dropped out. Lots of stress so I am fattening them up a little.
The Wrasse is a cave sleeper and since the rock was re-arranged I am not sure where his new sleeping space is. I am going to try baiting him this evening in to a net. We shall see. I went through the whole "how to catch a fish" post, but even with all but the largest foundation racks missing he was fast and elusive.

my only concern is this...your 20g qt tank now contains fish that have ich. i know you said this qt is cycled. however (and hopefully steve can chime in here), unless you empty/sterilize everything in your qt, you will be putting fish back into the same water that they were in when they had the parasite.
while ich needs a fish host to live, there is still the possibility of the parasite living in your qt during the time you are doing ttm. i would think you would want to start fresh with a sterile qt. obviously, you won't have time to cycle it once ttm is complete and it's time to put the fish into qt for the remainder of your fallow period.
i have never used a cycled qt. i simply set up my qt when i was getting a new fish. i used prime as a precaution but also did simple 3-4g water changes every couple of days (qt was as 10g). i never had a problem with ammonia. you should also have an ammonia alert badge on your qt.

Yes I didn't clarify that. If I do go through with the TTM I will have to empty and sterilize the QT. When I initially got it running I spiked the cycle with a good sized sponge from the DT and added fish slowly at first to let it get going. This was for when I planned to use cupramine. It will be interesting to see how the fish handle the transfers. I have already switched in their reaction to me from "friend and bringer of food" to "predator".

LOL, i have done ttm with 4 wrasses and a kole tang. the wrasses were a bit dramatic but they were only acting. the kole tang wasn't phased in the least. as soon as he got dumped into the next transfer tank, he was waiting front and center to be fed.

My wrasse was so dramatic he is still in the DT :rolleye1:
Once he gets hungry I will get him so I can finally start the fallow period. Wish I could just have a chit chat about his health with him. Oh well... I'll be a predator for a little while. I had to tell myself that I was smarter than he is the other day to keep from being mad. We are supposed to be the top of the food chain right? :fun2:

I feel the same way. I'm emotionally attached to my fish. Corals, not so much. That said , I try to provide both with a high standard of care and husbandry.
