I took this pic at a local pet shop today on Long Island no price but said to be around 2-3K... Some Info and pic below..

An extremely rare specimen caught by either deep mixed gas divers or submersible. It lives at depths in excess of 300' and is found on small areas of coral rubble on sandy plateaus adjacent to steep coral reef walls.

Evides is a shy and cryptic species. It is often found in pairs or small, same-species groups of 3-5 individuals. It is distinguished by three dark bands, hence the common name. This is a very sensitive fish that requires skilled care. As is the case with almost all deepwater fishes, they prefer a cool tank temperature; 65-70°F (18-20°C) is recommended.

That is really cool! I have never heard of such an animal. At first glimpse it kind of looked like a cichlid, from back in my fresh water days.

Just in case anyone wants to Google more about this fish, it's a Lipogramma evides. If it's on the lower end of the price tag ($2000) then it's a relative steal. I remember there were a few briefly available a year or so ago and I think they all went for significantly more than that.

This is among my favorite reef basslets.

I have been planning a deepwater Caribbean system for a while, and this species is right at the top of the list.
